It’s that time again, I so love the wildflowers of Colorado. The interesting thing about Westcliffe is that every time we go there are different flowers, and I love them all. I also have to take several pictures of each flower. This first group of flowers are from the side of the road. I tried to get some close ones and some with the mountains. There were flowers everywhere!!
Of course, we went to the bluff (park) at the edge of town and again so many flowers, we also saw 5 or 6 deer. I love walking around the park, looking at the flowers and deer so very peaceful.
When we were driving in the mountains, I asked Dan to stop so I could take some pictures and he asked me to check the tire – yep it was flat. So, Dan changed it and up walked a friendly gentleman (Michael) and he talked to us for a while and then told us he was trying to buy the house just up the street from one of our properties. He was very nice, and I hope we meet him again. We asked Michael where to get our tire fixed, we went, and Westcliffe Petroleum fixed it within 20 mins. Have I mentioned how great the people of Westcliffe are?
Here are some of our flowers of one of our properties. I’m so glad the paints are there; Indian paints are one of my favorite wildflowers.
I also thought I’d talk about some of the food options available, first Willy’s – yes there are other breakfast places but for us there is only Willy’s. Nicki doesn’t even ask us what we want she just verifies and off she goes! Can you guess which is mine and which is Dan’s (Chipped beef on toast or a burrito)? For lunch we like the Amish Deli – their sandwiches are freaking amazing! For Dinner there is a new place and it’s pretty good. The last picture is one of my favorite places in Westcliffe – the Mennonite Bakery, the ladies are so friendly, and the muffins are the biggest and most delicious I’ve ever eaten.
We stayed at the Dark Skies hotel in town. I like it because it’s in the center of town and the train museum is right across the street. Yes, I know I’ve taken pictures of the train museum 100 times before, but I can’t help it. I just love it!
Not only are there wildflowers everywhere, but the town also has planters with all these beautiful flowers! Plus, I just love the town in the morning, hardly any cars as I walked to the coffee shop!
So, as I mentioned I love flowers and one of my favorites is the Rocky Mountain Bee Plant. I never get tired of taking pictures of them aren’t they fascinating!
So, we went to our property and low and behold where we normally park there were about 5 Rocky Mountain Bee Plants so I wouldn’t let Dan run them over. Yes, I realize that’s silly, but I don’t care. I don’t step on any of our plants! We didn’t bring our chairs, so we walked to the edge of our property and found that beautiful big tree.
Thank you for letting me share my love of Colorado, Westcliffe, and of course wildflowers!
