Rocky Mountain National Park

This month we went to Rocky Mountain National Park (RMNP) to see the fall colors.  RMNP is adjacent to Estes Park. We haven’t been to RMNP because Estes Park is pretty crowded.  But I just love the colors of Fall we visited this year for a couple of days.

The first day was a simple day. We walked around the Stanley Hotel (aka., the Shining hotel), it was pretty cool. I liked the old car too.

We also by Lake Estes. If you look closely you can see the hotel in the back ground. As we were about to leave we we saw some elk at the museum. There was at least 15. So very cool.

My favorite part of the day was going to river walk, which is just off main street. We saw about 20 elk in the River. It was so cool.

BTW the elk were everywhere, here are just a few pictures of some of the elk we saw outside of the RMNP, and in the town. The bottom two were just along side the road.

The second day we went to Bear Lake, I just love it. It’s so beautiful and it was a perfect day. Another reason why I like it is because it’s a short walking loop. BTW I took 100 pictures at Bear Lake. I just love it!

From Bear Lake, we walked to Albert falls. The falls were nice, but I enjoyed the walk the most.  There was beautiful spot that had overhanging aspens. In case you are keeping track, I took over 200 pictures on the 2 mile round trip to and from the falls.

That was a lot of hiking so then we took the Trail Ridge Road the mountain and went to Granby and looked at the Grand lake, it’s really pretty and a cute little town. I never get tired of taking pictures of our American Flag!

On the way home the sunset was beautiful. It’s just a stunning place. Plus we saw lots of elk on the way home. I feel so blessed living in Colorado.

The third day we went to Sprague Lake. Another beautiful lake, I just love the loop such amazing 360 view.

We wanted to see a moose so we drove to the other side of the park and up old fall river road. This road is 1 way with hairpin turns, it’s scary and beautiful and fun. We stopped along the road several times and saw trees, a waterfall, and this beautiful spot with a creek. The views were stunning. If you get a chance to go to RMNP and it’s open I highly recommend it.

We also went to Lake Lily which is outside the park. It’s nice but it doesn’t compare with Bear or Sprague lakes.

The last day we went to on an ATV trip. What a blast! We had a side by side and the trail was rough, but wow it was a lot of fun. Here are just a few pictures from our trip.

I so enjoy writing about my trips, whether it’s glass or personal. I hope y’all don’t mind all the pictures and me talking about our amazing trip to the Rocky Mountains National Park.
