Refused Red bowl

During one of my shows a great customer of mine bought one of my favorite bowls. It was a red screen melt bowl. It was hug, thick, and beautiful. Here is a picture of me and Carla with it.

Literally the next day she told me it broke. We didn’t know how and since it was a an expensive piece she asked me if she should glue it back together. As you know glass can be refused so I told her no and that I’d refuse it for her.

When you refuse glass it doesn’t look exactly the same. I broke it up some more and added some clear. I think it looks great. I sent her a picture and she seemed happy with it. She’s going to pick it up at my open house in March.

Here are a couple close up pictures. Aren’t they beautiful.

It you have expensive art glass that breaks don’t throw it away. Talk to your glass artist and see what they can do with it. As we say in the glass world “never refuse to refuse”.
