When I conduct a fused glass class, I typically create samples for inspiration. Sometimes my examples are what to do and sometimes it’s what not to do. For my Valentine couple’s class, I made several samples. Here are the little fused glass dishes I created for class. I do wish my penmanship was better.

Below are the art pieces I made (top row); I drilled holes in the heart and the taller one can either be hung (I just need to drill holes) or in a stand. The bottom 2 can either be little dishes, drill holes, or put them in stands.

I also showed had some fused glass casted hearts, I have dozens because I so enjoy making them.

I love these hearts, aren’t they great. Additionally, there are so many different ways to make them.

This piece is fun it’s a glass envelop, and you can write your own note at put it in the envelope. I think it’s cool.

Like I said sometimes it’s what not to do. I loved making these hearts and I think they look great, but I would change them a bit. This first heart is lovely and it’s a bit fragile, so I would put it on a background.

I love the texture of this one, however I’d use a mixture of the color next time and either incorporate a hole or I’d put it on a background.

For this one I didn’t put a background, and I worry it would break easily so I’ll add a base to it. I love this style, so elegant and pretty.

This one I love, albeit sometimes weird things happen in the kiln and a piece jumped off the heart. It’s a great example to let students know what things can happen.

I also made several examples for the free technique included in my classes using mica, dichroic slide, decals, glow in the dark slide, etc. It’s a great way to show them what works best on what glass.
