These little fused glass dishes are made with petrified wood glass. It’s a special type of glass that reacts with some blue glass. I did some tests and I think it’s amazing. This is petrified wood glass before it’s fired.
So it looks brown before it’s fired but when you fire it with a certain type of glass (blues & greens) it totally changes colors. It reminds me of this amazing glass (chalcedony) I saw when I went to Murano Italy. On the left are pieces before firing. You can see some stayed blue (top 2) and the bottom two turned shades of red. I also made little test pieces but I’m not sure if I’ll sell them or just keep them as test pieces.
Here are 3 after slumping into small dishes. I wish you could see how truly beautiful they are and the depth of color is fantastic.
I also did a test piece but I have to be honest this piece is so cool I think I’ll cut it up into pendants! I just love this glass!!
I can’t wait to show y’all these fabulous little fused glass dishes.
