Book Review – Fused Glass Flowers by Creative Paradise
I love to learn about fused glass whether it is through classes, eBooks, or actual books. I also like trying new products therefore, I thought I would write a few product and book reviews on the various items I have purchased. Please understand this is my personal view and is not intended to offend anyone. I just like trying new things and I would like to share my experiences with others. I am not paid to write these reviews.
I wanted to create a fused flower so I bought this book. Understand I have never created a slumped actual fused flower so as I read this book it was a little difficult to follow. The pictures are on six different pages, the molds are listed in another section of the book, and the instructions are listed in another section of the book. So being a visual person, I read the instructions go to one place for the color picture then another for the mold then I try to piece out how it will lay to drape or slump. That is a lot of flipping back and forth. The book does have a myriad of templates but it does not show how to drape or slump a specific flower and as I said, you have to look several different places to get the complete picture. I am sure if /when, I create a flower, I will mark the pages so I do not get distracted. The book does illustrate several pretty flowers and leaves (even a butterfly and dragonfly). I would not recommend this book for a beginner fuser, but it’s good for intermediate.
As of yet I haven’t used the book to make a flower as you have to have specific molds for each flower as well.
Keeping my Kiln warm,
