My Fused Glass Studio

I have been so crazy busy these last few weeks. In addition to work, going to Steamboat, etc. I’ve been working on cleaning and organizing my studio.

First I organized my molds. BTW have I mentioned I have hardly found a mold I didn’t like? I have all kinds of molds including production molds (so I can make multiple glass pieces for hotels and Restaurants). I have 2 mold areas, one in the garage (youtube video) and one in my basement.

Then I organized my frit (small pieces of glass). I love frit, there are a myriad of techniques that uses frit, but it was difficult to use my frit because I couldn’t access it. Now I’m looking forward to actually using all my great frit. BTW when I listened to Marie Kondo’s books she talked about displaying what you love and what makes you happy. As you can see I’m showing off a lot of old family photo’s on the top shelf and i have pieces I’ve made included too.

I also organized my paints & enamels. I’ve been wanting to paint for a while, but I just haven’t had the space to do it. Now they are organized and I can access them I’m hoping to use them. I still have open space for more of my supplies.

Then I organized my “work stations”. Going left to right this is my vitrigraph kiln, my glass pieces and molds, kilns, glass, saws and drill. I have 2 cutting stations: for smaller size glass I use a beetle bits cutting system and for larger pieces I use a table, ruler and cutter.

I put a table in between my frit and paints. My intent is to keep this table cleared. That’s my hope anyway.

I still have a ways to go, did I mention I’m a firm believer in “oh I may need that so I better hold on to it”. Yes I don’t call it hoarding, I call it stockpiling supplies. But I’m trying to be better, but it’s taking a while.

When I’m completely done I’ll write another blog. This took a couple of weeks just getting this far. I am enjoying my studio a lot more though. This is why my open house won’t be until March.
