In February, I wrote a blog about my fused glass flowers. Jackie told me I should make more. So I did. I made 3; a red, mauve, and clear iridized.
My problem was I couldn’t decide which stamen to use, needless to say the center piece. So I had my 3 flowers out and let my customers help me decide which stamen should go with each flower. In reality, the stamens were pretty easy to match with the flower. My apologies, I looked and looked however, I didn’t take a picture of just the 3 and how they were displayed for the show.
I digress, here is the flower that Jackie put together, a red stamen and a center with purple, red, and salmon which really brings out all the colors from the clear iridized glass. Isn’t it beautiful, she really has an artist’s eye.
When the flower was finished setting I took it to her house, and I’m so glad I did. Jackie is an artist. I was amazed at her art collection, she should be an interior designer. Plus her artwork was extremely impressive. I just love the way her mind works. Below is a picture of how she displayed the flower. What an honor to have a piece of my artwork in her beautiful house. Thank you so much Jackie.
All of my customers gave me some recommendations for my flowers, I put the red stamen in the mauve flower they recommended. And I think it looks great. Then Julie said, Karen you should make the centers interchangeable like your snaps. So I did. I put a magnet in the middle of the stamen and on the back of the center so now if you want the mauve flower you can chose the center. HOW cool is that! Thank Julie, LOVE that idea!! *BTW I’m not sure if you can tell but the picture with the blue in the right corner is hanging on the wall and the one on the far left shows it sits just as well.
During my home show my customers liked the red but they didn’t like the stamens I had available. Jackie recommend I do a double black stamen and it’s freaking perfect. I also found the best center albeit just like the pink you can chose your center. Isn’t it amazing? I love this fused glass flower, thank you Jackie, love the double stamen for this red flower!
My fused glass flowers are very special to me so I pack them in a special way. I use a special box like the one below (I think of it as a hat box), it’s perfect for the flowers and you get to keep the box as well.
So the obvious question is which color should I do next? I’m thinking purple (problem with purple is it’s expensive glass). My walls are going to be filled with flowers!!
