Lady in the Woods

Recently I had a sale on my Artfire account, a fused glass Lady in the Woods sculpture. Normally on my sculpture pieces whether it’s the Tree of Life, Green Man or Lady in the woods, I make them to order. Ironically the examples are all shades of green but they can be made in any color.

Sadly I didn’t have the glass available that was on my Artfire store, so I asked my customer what color he’d like and gave him several choices. He chose iridized aventurine green which is one of my favorites for all three of these designs. There are various ways to make these types of sculptures (check out some of my blogs below regarding more of my textured glass); the first is to have the iridized face up (no pun intended) or you can have it capped with clear. I like both versions, iridized up really sparks (left picture). When the iridized is capped with clear the sparkle is more subtle albeit very beautiful (right picture).

I made both versions for my customer. I wanted to get it in the kiln so I fired the iridized on top. Of course he actually wanted it clear capped. So I fired the new one for him. So in the end I made two and gave him the choice. Can you guess which one he chose? I so wish the camera would pick up the depth of the capped piece on the right.

If you said both you’d be right! A big thank you to James for supporting my glass artwork. I love make glass and it means a lot to me when people like my fused glass artwork.
