I’m going to the Glass Expo

I’ve been creating glass since 2008. I’ve taken some amazing trips to see glass; Bullseye (with great friends), Tanya at AAE Glass (several times), Bob Leatherbarrow in Salt Springs Island, Laurie Spray, Miriam Di Fori, Craig Mitchell Smith, Amanda Taylor, Patty Gray, Alice Gebhart, Cathy Claycomb, *no pictures albeit fabulous instructors (Mark, David Alcala, Ann Nye, etc), and so many others including my very first instructor Coral!

Ever since I started fusing glass back in 2008, I wanted to go to the Glass and Bead Expo in Las Vegas. I love glass and enjoy being around others who love glass. So far it looks like 80 exhibitors and the some of the ones I want to go to. I’m lucky and will be staying in the hotel where the expo is being held.

Luckily for me, two of my glass friends will be there; Julie (she and I went to Glass Array in Missouri and took a couple of classes together). Pam and I went to D&L here in Colorado and took the Patty Gray Class. Of course, we met in AAE Classes along with our friend Melinda (who sadly couldn’t come to Vegas). The three of us also took a class in Lansing Michigan with Craig Mitchell Smith and we took another class with Amanda Taylor in New York – my goodness I love these talented ladies.

One of the classes I’ll be taking is Tabitha’s class. I’m really excited to take the class with Tabitha – I get a lot of my millefiori and murrine from Tabitha and I’ve written several posts about her (see a couple on the bottom row). I’ve even signed up for a meet and greet with Tabitha and Jamaison another great artist!

Another class I’m taking is “Dimensions in Stained Glass” with Tamara. I’ve taken a couple of Stain Glass classes before with my friend Lela and I just want to do some more of especially boxes.

The Over the Edge class by Alysa will expand on the On Edge class I took with Tanya – years ago. I’ve taking several part sheet classes and e-books before, but this one looks pretty fun.

The Creative Mold-Making by Barbara Cashman is one I’ve wanted to do for a while, so I’m excited about it. I have this material and just haven’t figured out the tricks, also I pull my own vitrigraph so using 2 things I have will be cool!

I’ve done the below with several artists including Tanya of course, but to me you can never learn enough about making your own glass! This class is Make your Own Sheet Glass by Lisa Stirrett

BTW one of my favorites all time classes I’ve taken over the years was at Bullseye with my three Glass BFFs, the great Tanya Veit, I will never forget that class!

Come April 2025 I’ll be in Las Vegas with some amazing women and instructors. I’ll be doing some serious postings for sure! I can’t wait!!
