Garden of the Gods with my Cousin

One of my cousins came to Colorado Springs this month. I haven’t seen her since I was 11 or 12. A little background, as a child when we went to Oklahoma my Aunt Pauline and Cousin Carol Jean took us in and helped us a great deal. Kualine is Carol Jean’s daughter. I don’t remember much but I remember unconditional love. Kualine texted me and said she was coming to town so I took off work a bit early and met them at the Garden of the Gods welcome center. It was kind of funny though I get there and we’re all in masks so it wasn’t as easy recognizing her and her husband, Daryl. But it worked out. Here is the view of Garden of the Gods from the visitor center.

The main parking lot was pretty full so we drove around and when we finally found a spot it was not in my normal place so it was actual hiking verses walking. But we had a blast. Daryl and Kualine are wonderful and kind and I just had the best time with them.

After the hike we drove to the main parking and then walked through Garden of the Gods. What a beautiful place. If you’ve never been to Garden of the Gods you should go. Please understand these pictures don’t come close to how beautiful it truly is.

We also went to balance rock. I never get tired of going to Garden of the Gods, it’s an amazing place and I’m so blessed to live so close to it.

It’s funny how family is we haven’t seen each other in years but we just talked and caught up on each others lives. We went to Manitou Springs and had pastries and just enjoyed each other. At this time it’s critical to enjoy the simple pleasures in life, like getting outdoors and visiting with family and friends. I’m so glad I got to spend time with Kualine and Daryl, we had such a wonderful time in Garden of the Gods, Manitou Springs, and dinner. I love my Cousin! Thank you for being with me when I needed family with me.

As a gift to help Kualine and Daryl remember Colorado I gave them a Fused Glass Winter Aspen night light. Below is an example of my winter fused glass aspen nightlights. It’s not the one I gave Kualine. (I forgot to take a picture of it)
