This past week I took an amazing fused glass class with the world renown Craig Mitchell Smith. I took his Iris class from him back in August 2018 with my girlfriends and we had a fabulous time. I loved the class and of course being with my friends. The pictures below are from my class with Craig in 2018 and of course my friends Melinda, Julie, Me, and Pam.
I said then and I’ll say now, Craig is brilliant. The vase on the left is the vase that enticed me to take the class. The vessel on the right is the piece that Craig made in class. They are stunning and these pictures don’t do them justice. Craig also taught 2 other classes while he was in Phoenix the Poppy and the Orchid / Iris class. They are so wonderful, I never get tired of seeing his artwork.
I don’t post process pictures of the classes I take, but here a couple class pictures of Craig at Milkweed. My classmates were wonderful and I enjoyed our conversations and spending time with such talented men and women. I wish I could have taken more pictures but with the masks I didn’t see the point.
Btw the class was at Milkweed Arts in Phoenix owned by Warren. He was great and made sure we were all Covid safe (masks and separated tables). The studio was nice and I also liked how he had items that were different than the norm. I got little scrubies which will make it much easier getting paint and grout off my hands.
What a fabulous week. I can’t wait to take another class with Craig. I learned so much from him. He’s funny, kind, and an extraordinary artist! Thank you Craig for a wonderful experience!! I love my vase and can’t wait to explore this technique more. Below is the vase I made in class.. I love it, especially the color and the fact it looks blown vs fused.
I just wanted to show y’all just a bit more of Craig’s artwork. Here are just a few I found on the internet. He is so talented.
