July’s mold of the month is a texture mold called Lady in the Woods and she’s beautiful. Similar to green man, but it’s a woman with flowers.
The interesting thing about textured molds especially the image ones is you need to be a little cautious when you use them. The first time I used my lady in the woods I did something wrong (probably didn’t put enough glass separator on it) and it broke but I just cut it into a pretty shape and refired it on the mold. Then I drilled holes and now it’s a beautiful sun catcher perfect for your garden. In addition, you have to go really slow in the firing, kinda of tricky.
The lady in the woods comes in two sizes (12 x 12 and 6 x 6 inches) as does the green man and the tree of life.
But you don’t have to make them square which is why I love this one. It’s a beautiful green with iridized. I need to get a stand for it (I have a habit of making fused glass artwork then wondering how to display them). She’s stunning round fused glass iridized green sculpture of Lady in the Woods. You should see the edges so organic and beautiful.
One of my favorite things about these textured molds is you can just use sheet glass or add frit to give it some it some additional color. Which is something I’ll be doing later this month so make sure you check out my blogs through my website Elegant Fused Glass by Karen.
