For March I’m focusing on fused glass e-books from Helios studios. As I mentioned in my last blog, they have 17 e-books albeit, I’ll be focusing on 12 e-books that I’ve purchased and love. Not that I didn’t buy the other 5!
The third fused glass e-book I want to talk about is his fused glass kiln carving e-book. I wrote about kiln carving in February when I focused on techniques I learned from Tanya, but there is so many more applications than you can imagine.
The two fused glass kiln carving pieces I created from Paul’s ebook are very cool. They are both color inlay but done differently. I wasn’t sure how it would turn out so I just made soap dishes, but I love them. I can’t wait to try these on a bigger scale. Of course I say soap dishes but they are also perfect for spoon rests, tea bag holder, trinket dish, and in fact I have fused glass dishes this size by my sinks for my rings and jewelry or change or pretty much anything. They are perfect size for anything!
The pictures below are the pieces before they were slumped. I’m not sure if you can tell I put iridized on top, very cool!
I really liked this e-book too, so many variations on kiln carving and I look forward to trying more of these versions.
