Fused Glass Bubble Dishes

One of the things I just love about fused glass is how many techniques there are. One of my favorites is bubbles. There are lots of ways to create bubbles and one of my favorites is bubble paint. I have several different kinds of paint. Here they are in the kiln prior to firing and after firing. you can see they change colors when fired.

Recently a friend asked me to make her husband a soap dish. She said he likes blue and sea horses. So of course, my thought was blue, sea horses – a great technique BUBBLES. I bought these decals years ago and wanted to save them for a special piece and I think this is perfect. I love that one is light, and one is dark. They aren’t the same colors of bubbles and I love them. I hope my friends like them.

I also made two more dishes. The first one I added a mermaid decal. It’s difficult to see in the picture but it’s a beautiful piece.

In the last dish the bubbles are so big they literally are raised up. When they are this raised there is a risk of the bubbles popping so I’m going to figure out how to fix it. The paint is sapphire so I need to remember to make this paint thinner to have less bubbles or smaller bubbles.

I also made some stirrers. I should have made the tops a bit bigger but very nice.

Just in case you were wondering here are two other bubble pieces I’ve made in the past.

Clearly, I want to play more with my bubble paint.
