Awareness ribbons have come to symbolize various concerns through ribbon colors or patterns including cancer, disabilities, etc.. The first ribbon that was represented as a meaningful object in history was the yellow ribbon that was mentioned in a marching song, which was sung by the military in the United States. Regarding awareness ribbons I am reminded by the 1970s song “Tie a Yellow Ribbon ‘Round the Ole Oak Tree“.
The Wikipedia has the most extensive list (Red is also for substance abuse, heart disease etc.) and disabled world lists the ribbons for disabilities. Instead of the ribbon for autism awareness, I have a puzzle piece and I can make it in several colors.
I can make pendants, key chains, etc with several awareness ribbon colors.
