I’ve written about my good friend Marilyn several times. She has been a friend for over 15 years and has supported my fused glass business wholeheartedly. She’s bought fused glass from me numerous times over the years. In fact, it was her cabin we stayed in while we were in Westcliffe over Christmas. She had several pieces of my fused glass in the cabin and at her new house as well. You can see the a couple of trees of life, a clock, lady in the woods, aspens, to name a few. I love seeing my fused glass displayed so prominently, it makes me feel so good.
A few months ago Marilyn asked me to make her new Aspens for her new house. They are the biggest I’ve ever made! She also wanted to hang them and she wanted bears on them and of course she wanted red trees vs summer trees. Luckily for me I was able to get the bears from Tracy.
I’m so proud of them. When we went to their house for dinner she and her husband were nice enough to hang them while I was there. I think they look wonderful.
I so appreciate her support and that she challenges me. I’m so glad she likes them. They looked so great especial with the light coming through.

Keeping my kiln warm,
Karen
I love your work, and am trying out new techniques. Any tips for me?
Thank you
Bonnie, I’d recommend taking a class (locally or from AAE). I learned more in a class than totally going on my own. Once you get the fundamentals from a class (especially learning how to develop a firing schedule) then experiment, test, and don’t be afraid of the kiln. Karen
