Custom Fused Glass Center Piece

A while back I made this amazing fused glass dish. It truly was a one of a kind dish. It had dichroic, iridized, and so much more. Sharon chose it to sell at Tulip gifts and cards. A month ago she called me and said that a customer bought a fused glass dish of mine and wanted me to make a similar one albeit much larger. When she sent me the picture I was really worried. As you can see it is truly a unique piece and extremely difficult to replicate. The picture on the right shows the depth of the glass.

Luckily for me first she let me have the small piece back to help me create the bigger piece. It took quite a bit of time to create it and then to fire it took several days to fire it. After the first firing I hand cut it, which was not easy it’s a large piece 8 1/2 x 16 1/2 inches. Look at the depth of this piece. It has iridized and dichroic. I just love it.

Here are two pictures of the pieces together. They are not exact but I think they look beautiful. I sure hopes she likes it.

I love making making custom fused glass, I love the challenge of it. I also hate it because what if she doesn’t like it? This was an extremely difficult piece to make, it’s not exact but it does include all of the glass that I used in the small piece.

Please let me know what you think of this gorgeous fused glass center piece. Obviously this is not meant for food, it is art.
