I so love to make something new and a challenge in fused glass. Recently I was asked to make a wedding cake topper. She wanted a north star with a dove.
I was so excited because it’s something I’ve never made. I must admit I broke the North Star pieces a couple of times but I finally got it and I think the star is perfect. I also worked really hard on the dove. That being said I love how both the star and dove turned out!!
Here is a picture of the North Star with Blue dichroic in the background and silver dichroic in the front. I make the bottom longer to stick in the cake.
Here is the dove, I used gold to highlight the eyes, beak, and feathers on the wings. I’m not sure but it’s got a bit of pink to it. Then I added the glass on the bottom so it will stick into the cake.
Here it is layered. I made them separate so if they didn’t like them together they can separate them. Also the more uneven glass is can cause issues firing them.
Here is a couple of pictures of them in the wedding cake. Such a pretty cake. I think they turned out great the bride and groom loved them. I’m so happy that a piece of my glass artwork was a part of such a special day.
