I love it when I get a custom fused glass order that is a bit challenging. One of my restaurants consistently challenges me all the time with new dishes. This time he wanted a unique shaped dish. I love this mold and hand cut all of them to match the mold.
Ironically when I fired a couple of my glass blank, I wasn’t paying attention and didn’t notice how my glass blanks were facing. I had to recut a couple, they turned out beautifully. The two pictures on the left I slumped without refiring. The one right and the bottom were fired properly. Can you see the difference? The ones on the right are nice and shiny.
He also wanted 100 little blue dishes, normally this is the size I use for my soap dishes, but they make perfect desert dishes. Here are some of the finishing steps, I hand wash, dry, and then pack them.
As you know I always give a free gift, this time I made two dishes and couldn’t decide which to give him; so, I gave him both. I love the mix of ivory and blue, they remind me of the blue skies and the white mountains of Colorado. I hope he likes them.
Let me know what you think of my dishes? Which is your favorite?
