Last week, my husband and I went on our first week long vacation in very long time, we went to Breckenridge Colorado. Breckenridge is such a beautiful place.
The reason why we took the time to go on vacation alone is last Christmas, my husband and I agree is we wanted to spend more time together. In March we went to Breckenridge and went snowmobiling. It was one of the funnest activity I’ve done in a very long time. In April we went to the Wolf Sanctuary and in May we went to the Wildlife sanctuary.
I’ll try to do only 2 or 3 blogs about our Breckenridge vacation, but since I’ve been away from my kiln (which is hard on me) I want to write about something fun.
For this blog I want to talk about our fun activities.
First as I mentioned that we went snowmobiling in March (what a blast), well the first activity we did on our vacation was 4 wheeling. We went to Nova Guides between Minturn and Leadville. What a wonderful place, friendly people and beautiful area – highly recommend Nova Guides. Here are just a few pictures, as I mentioned it was beautiful we also saw a small waterfall, beaver dam, mountain, etc. The trail was great but there were some serious rough terrain (I guess I should admit, this was my first time and I’m a chicken.). I was nervous but I did it and I’m so glad I did. matter of fact Dan and I were talking about doing it again closer to home.
The next activity we did was biking Vail pass (Alpine Sports – they were awesome). First I’m not the best bicyclist, in fact I didn’t even own a bike until I was 16. Anyway it was down hill 95% of the way, so that part was easy, but there were sharp turns and steep downhill sections that scared the crap out of me (Did I mention I’m a chicken?). But I’m so glad I did it. I’m not sure if y’all know but this past winter we had several avalanches here in Colorado (along hwy 70). Well we biked right past several of them. I had no idea how truly devastating they were. Hundreds of trees decimated. We also found a little mine (no we didn’t go in). One of the things I loved about the bike ride is it was at our own pace so we stopped several times to take pictures.
The last activity that we did was rafting, notice I didn’t say white water rafting. After the 4×4 and biking we wanted something easy so we took an easy float down the Arkansas river. We went through Performance rafting (I don’t recommend them – from beginning to end the workers weren’t very impressive). The Arkansas river is great and I fully recommend the river just find a different company to use. We really had a relaxing float down the river and had a few small rapids that made it even more fun.
I was listening to a podcast the other day about getting out of your comfort zone and to be scared every day. We’ll I can tell you both the bike trip and the 4×4 I was definitely out of my comfort zone. What a blast and I’m so glad I got out of my comfort zone and got a little scared. Both activities (bike & ATV) and the snowmobiling made me realize I’m more capable than I give myself credit for.
I challenge you to get out of your comfort zone and do something fun!!
I’m curious what’s on your list of want to go or try?
