I just finished another production order for a fabulous Aspen Restaurant. Normally when I do an order for him he gives me the approximate size and I do a few tests. He wanted blue so I did a transparent and a opal.
This piece is an amazing mold but it’s quite large, but it’s quite a statement piece isn’t it.
This plate is just lovely, I like the transparent color and it’s a great size for a dinner plate (11 1/2 inches) but he wanted something a bit smaller.
So we agreed on this one. I used the blue transparent and there is nothing I don’t like about this fused glass dish. It’s approx 5×10 inches and can be used for anything including serving, candles, or amenities which is what he will be using it for. I made him 48 all hand cut, 2 layers of glass, fired to a full fuse then slumped into the mold. I can only do about 10 of this size at a time so it’s a lot of work. That doesn’t include washing / drying every step of the way. I so appreciate my commercial customers, it means a lot to a local artist!!
