Thank you for a wonderful year! I can not tell you how much I enjoy sharing my love of glass with you. I wish you all a wonderful 2019!  For my local customers I wanted to remind y'all that I don't have a scheduled Arts and Craft Show until July or August.

That being said I can still do home shows. The home shows can be tailored to what fused glass artwork you would like to see including, jewelry, snap jewelry, artwork, etc.

Just for hosting a fused glass party at your house you'll earn free fused glass. For every 3 people (not county me) at the party you earn $10 in free fused glass. Additionally you and all the people at the party will receive 15% off all purchases.

Just email or call me and let me know you'd like to host a fused glass party. Let me know how many people you can accommodate and what type of fused glass artwork you'd like me to display.

If you would like to host a fused glass home show please email me at elegantfusedglass@gmail.com

Fresh From the Kiln:

When I made my son the fused glass clock (below) I loved it so much I made myself one as well. I also updated this piece. I created it last year with pictures of Mzia and me when she was born. But there was some white space and I was going to add some gold but after I made the clock I decided to add some tiny magnets and now I can add more pictures of Mzia anytime I want. She's so beautiful and now my little frame can grow with her.

Enamel fused glass tests

In preparation for my large Kokopelli I did some tests. This is the first piece I made in preparation. I used photo resist, sandblasted, then applied the enamel. It looked a bit light but I thought it was because it was on clear glass. I like to make little dishes as my tests that way they can still be used …Read more.

Did you know ...

This section is used to answer any questions you may have or to pass on tidbits of information that add value and enhance knowledge regarding fused glass, metals, or jewelry in general. Let me know if you have anything you'd like me to include.

At the end of the year I like to do kind of a recap. Last month I did a recap of some of the fused glass items or topics I blogged about during the year. This month I thought I'd show some of my favorite fresh from the kilns, my classes, and my trips.

---

Here are some of my favorite Fresh From the Kiln pieces. I like posting my Fresh From the Kilns they can be big or small.

This was the first time I made a framed piece. I think I will add words too. I like this technique and plan on doing a few more versions.

I think this piece is so cool I love the recessed area then adding the feather. Such an artistic piece.

I love iridized glass and when they are fused over a textured mold it's so much fun to see the different colors. I never get tired of making this technique with different textured molds.

I took several classes during 2018 and I enjoyed every single one. My first  class was with Laurie Spray.  She's an amazing instructor and so much fun. I loved this class and I learned so many different techniques and met so many wonderful fellow glass lovers.

I also took a class with Craig Mitchell Smith. I just loved taking Craig's class. I not only got to take a class with an magnificent instructor I got to see 3 of my favorite women. I can't wait to take another class from Craig he is truly a genius when it comes to glass and so funny.

---

I also took a few classes that weren't  fused glass. I took an alcohol ink class and a copper overlay class from Cathy Claycomb. These were very interesting techniques that I want to explore more. Cathy is a great instructor and I like that it's not just fused glass.

In addition, I took 4 mosaic classes from Cathy at Full Spectrum here in Colorado Springs. Mosaic is a fun technique and it's amazing how after I took these classes I've see mosaics everywhere including at the AFSPC headquarters. It was kind of funny I'm standing there and I looked up and there was a gigantic mosaic with a rocket shooting into the sky. I wish I could have taken a picture of it but there are no cameras in the building.

---

In addition, to classes I was able to combine business trips with glass trips. I just love seeing glass in all it's beautiful forms.

While in London I was able to see a Chilhuly exhibit at the Halcyon Gallery. Wow what an experience, truly mind-blowing artwork. It was a relatively small exhibit but so very beautiful.

While in London I also was able to go to the Victoria and Albert museum. Again some fabulous artwork, especially the glasswork.

---

One of my favorite glass trips I took an amazing trip to Murano Italy. I so enjoyed this trip and had so much fun. The glass I got to see was mind blowing. I love glass so much, it just makes me happy too look at it. I walked around and just looked at glass until my hearts content.

I watched 5 amazing glass blowers. It was so impressive. It's funny I didn't get tired of watching them I just was amazed at their precision.

I also watch 2 flameworkers. It was so interesting to see how intricate they were able to make their glass artwork.

These were just two art pieces that were on display in the streets of Murano. How I loved looking at the glass. Glass is beautiful in all it's forms.

I also bought some murrine and millefiori and actually got to make my own glass artwork using Murano glass. How wonderful is that!

---

What a fun year for me. I don't have any classes scheduled yet but I'm hoping to take another class from Craig and maybe Laurie. Hopefully both that would be so much fun. Sadly I am not expecting to go overseas this year but it is what it is.
