We spent an entire week in Westcliffe and I have to tell you it was wonderfully relaxing. Our Christmas was quite and simple. I love the little tree. The presents we get are typically for the house. The first row of photos are two of the pictures we hung in the hallway, the first two are metallic. I saw some …Read more.

Glass Murrine From Tabitha

Glass Murrine From Tabitha

I love Murrine and Millefiori, they are so fun to work with. In case you don't know murrine is little pieces of glass that are cross-sections of cane that reveal images. According to Wikipedia, murrine "first appeared in the Middle East more than 4,000 years ago and was revived by Venetian glassmakers in Murano in the early 16th century". When I went to Murano a few years back I …Read more.

Custom Production Fused Glass Amenity Dish

I just finished making another custom production order. This time it was fused glass amenity dishes. They were made with a special glass that's a bit difficult to work with, but I think they turned out great. I used a special texture mold - spiral. You can see how I grind each piece and the bottom row shows them in the …Read more.

Fused Glass - Buttons

Fused Glass - Buttons

I love making functional glass pieces. I made these buttons a while back, using Creative Paradise Inc (CPI) Molds. They are casted glass, meaning I put glass in the molds, and they come out perfectly. The back of the buttons are flat and the front are rounded. Recently I made a few more, this time using reactive glass. When you …Read more.

Fused Glass Ornament Class at Festivitea

Last week I had a wonderful time teaching a Fused Glass Ornament Class at Festivitea. This is my first-time teaching outside my studio. It was a challenge because I had to cut the bases and I wanted enough choices for hats, scarfs, earmuffs, etc. It was also the first time I had 8 students; in my home studio I have …Read more.

Did you know ...

This section is used to answer any questions you may have or to pass on tidbits of information that add value and enhance knowledge regarding fused glass, metals, or jewelry in general. Let me know if you have anything you'd like me to discuss.

This "Did You Know" is a review of 2023. How did I do on my goals and my plans for 2024.

I enjoy the Doherty Craft Fair earlier this month and wanted to show you just a part of it.  The Winner of the Drawing is Laurie. Laurie, you won $25 of free fused glass. If you saw something you liked, please email me elegantfusedglass@gmail.com to chose your prize.

At Doherty I have a double booth so I'm able to show off more of my fused glass artwork.

Here are a couple of close up pictures of my booth including my snaps, nightlights, magnets and my pocket vases and aspens.

Here are some more booths from the Doherty Craft Fair. So many amazing artists! Please support your local artists all through the year.

I always give a gift to all my newsletter recipients. For this show I gave Christmas candle ornaments, to bring a bit of light into this tough year. I think everyone like it and the good wishes that go with these beautiful fused glass candle ornaments.

Thank you to all my amazing customers.

I love making functional pieces but one of the pieces I just love making are my drop vases. They aren't functional, but they are true one-of-a-kind art pieces. After explaining the process of making my drop vases she saw the beauty of this piece. Thank you for buying this special fused glass art piece.

Another reason I love doing craft shows is to see all of the talented artists. Here are just a few of the things I bought. I love this beautiful notebook, it's embroidery on cork and the deer is so detailed. The potholders and jar openers are made by Sandy, I buy something from her every year. The Jams are the best and made by a new friend.

Last year I bought some fabulous paintings and this year I bought some more paintings from the same artist. These are incredible and 3 dimensional. I just love them; I could have bought a dozen more. Needless to say, these will be in Westcliffe over Christmas (see blog above).

And as always I bought another country tree. I LOVE sunflowers, this one will be right at home in Westcliffe.

I also bought some ornaments with a bear, fox, deer, and bunny with of course Westcliffe on the bottom. Yes, I realize I'm addicted to Westcliffe, and I love decorating it with things that mean something special to me.

Remember, buying from artists and crafters mean more to them than you can imagine.  Support artists, they create because they love creating and sharing their art.

Thank you to all of those who came by my booth and spent time with me. I look forward to seeing more of you in the coming year.
