Fused Glass Fall Art

Fused Glass Fall Art

I love fall, the colors and the crispness of the air. Sadly, almost all of the color is almost gone, and it snowed today in Colorado Springs and in Westcliffe. Here are some fall leaves made from glass. Aren't they pretty? The big one is new and pretty large. I think the smaller ones that look fabulous in the frames …Read more.

Beckwith Ranch Harvest Festival in Westcliffe

As I've mentioned before I love Beckwith Ranch in Westcliffe. Here are a few pictures around the ranch. It's just so beautiful. This month they had a Harvest Festival. I wasn't able to go but all of their events are wonderful - they had all kinds of activities. If you ever get a chance to go to one of the …Read more.

Sad News for Glass Artists in Colorado Springs

Sad News for Glass Artists in Colorado Springs

During my show in Woodland Park, two lovely ladies told me that Full Spectrum ran by my good friend and mentor Coral was closing. I couldn't / wouldn't believe it. Then my friend Cathy (whom I met through Coral) emailed me and told me the same thing. Again, I refused to believe it. My plan was to go see Coral, …Read more.

Sugar Skull at FestiviTEA - Tea Shop

Sugar Skull at FestiviTEA - Tea Shop

I've written about Margo's Tea Shop (Festivitea) a couple times now, but I just can't help it. Margo is such a wonderful Lady and FestiviTEA a fabulous shop. This post is about the Sugar Skull workshop I took with my bestie Lela, her mother-in-law, and her son. The instructor Amanda was great, she told us about Day of the Dead …

I screwed up: follow-up to My Glass art in the Sangre De Cristo 3rd Street Gallery

I screwed up: follow-up to My Glass art in the Sangre De Cristo 3rd Street Gallery

I was supposed to be one of the artists in October's show at the Sangre De Cristo 3rd Street Gallery in Westcliffe. However, I missed the intake for the Changing Seasons show Oct 5–Nov 13. However, I went for the reception anyway and spoke with Liz, she let me put my fused glass aspen with the bear upstairs, so it …Read more.

Custom Fused Glass Sign

Custom Fused Glass Sign

My good friend Marilyn asked me if I could make her a fused glass sign for her office. She wanted it to say, "The Ovary Office"! I think it looks fabulous! I added lots of vitrigraph, millefiori, and murine. I love it, I hope she likes it too. I love using screen printing on the glass with the garden theme. …Read more.

My Custom Quilt from My Cousin is finally Hung

My Custom Quilt from My Cousin is finally Hung

I've been chronicling my exchange of fused glass for a custom quilt with my cousin. I received it a month or so ago, albeit I didn't have any way to hang it. At the recommendation by my cousin, I bought custom wooden hangers for both top and bottom of my quilt. As a reminder I made my cousin several fused …Read more.

Custom Fused Glass Frame

I love making fused glass picture frames. Typically, I've made fused glass photo stands like the ones below, simple but elegant and perfect for snapshots. I also have made several picture frames like the below. They are open on the front and closed on the back. They can go in stands like I've shown below, or I can put a …Read more.

Did you know ...

This section is used to answer any questions you may have or to pass on tidbits of information that add value and enhance knowledge regarding fused glass, metals, or jewelry in general. Let me know if you have anything you'd like me to discuss.

This "Did You Know" is showing off some of my Fused Glass Christmas creations.

---

I made several fused glass ornaments. This group is a mixture of pressed glass and normal thickness glass. The 2 sets on the outside are pressed - as you can see, they are all pretty on both sides. The ornaments in the middle aren't pressed, but they are pretty on both sides. Another point about these ornaments is they are all screened printed.

These 8 fused glass ornaments are icicles. Four are very colorful and the other four are pastel and sugar texture. What fun ornaments to make.

This group is a mix of screen-printed ornaments and decals. I also added some murrine and millefiori. I enjoy making ornaments. I love the variety of that can be made in glass.

These ornaments are casted fused glass except for the blue snowman. It's meant to show you how big the casted fused glass ornaments are in comparison.

This group of ornaments are a bit different - they are wood. The first picture is the front and the 2nd picture is the back of the ornaments. I put a pressed piece of glass one 1 and another wood burn on another. The 3 blank ones aren't technically finished yet. I'm not sure if I want to screen print or put a piece of glass or maybe even a decal. We'll see - maybe 1 of each.

---

I also made these beautiful ornament holders. Some with decals and some with murrine. I think they are beautiful.

---

In addition to fused glass ornaments, I also made some fused glass magnets. All are decals except the bottom left which is screen-printed and of course the murrine angel at the bottom.

---

I love candle screens and these two are beautiful.  Even though they are on plain white fused glass - I think they are lovely.

I also made some Christmas plant stakes. I'm going to explore this technique more. I just love them. Not everyone has a big tree but wants a bit of decoration. These are perfect to dress up a plant to turn it into Christmas decorations.

---

I also made these fused glass elegant and beautiful pieces. They can sit on the table or in stands.

I made a screen-printed trinket dish. I love this saying. So fun!

---

I also made a couple of Christmas snaps. I'll probably make more before Christmas.

---

I also made some fused glass pendants with murrine and decals. Some I drilled holes in and added pinch bails, others I added normal bails, and lastly the bottom one is a glass bail and makes it beautiful on both sides.

I also made a few fused glass murrine earrings. Aren't they fun!

---

People always ask me what I keep from what I make. It was difficult to choose but these are what I kept. I am retired Air Force and love America and our Flag, so I kept the candle shield. We have a cat that looks like the plant stake, so I kept that one as well along with a magnet, 2 snaps, and the angel ornament.

In addition to the above I am keeping this adorable piece for my daughter. It's so sweet. I haven't decided if I should make it into a dish or a candle shield. Decisions, decisions...
