I have some personal news that's germane to those located in Colorado Springs. After 8 years I have changed job positions. I enjoyed working at Schriever Wargames it is an important mission. I loved working with the different nations and organizations. I learned so much from them, it was a difficult decision to leave, and I will miss them.

My new position is challenging and will also include business trips (TDYs). In fact, I'm sending this newsletter out late because I was on tap for a 3-week TDY. And I wasn't sure about the Woodland Park show or any classes.

The good news is I will be at the Woodland Park Mountain Art Festival on 12-13 August so please come out and visit me. I will give each of you two gifts just for visiting me. Please read the post below for details.  Regarding the class I'll send out another email, but it should be the 26th of August.

Tea Shop - Dishes and Stirrers

Tea Shop - Dishes and Stirrers

A dear friend of mine and fellow artist asked me to make some little dishes for a tea shop. We haven't had a chance to go yet, albeit I do want to show you the pieces I made and see what you think. Here are some of the fused glass dishes I made for the tea shop. I created the …Read more.

Follow-ups Regarding Westcliffe

Follow-ups Regarding Westcliffe

First, I have to show you a few pictures of some visitors we had at our Westcliffe property. Several of our wonderful Westcliffe neighbors told us about bears in the neighborhood. So, we went for a visit and guess what our trail camera caught. Luckily, we don't have any food out, so it was all good. Isn't the baby adorable? …Read more.

My Visit to Mission Wolf

My Visit to Mission Wolf

Earlier this month I did a post about the glass pieces that I made and gave to Mission Wolf. As you can see by the below it is a wonderful organization. I encourage you to visit the sanctuary (Saturday or Tuesdays). My husband, my best friend, her husband, and I delivered the glass to Mission Wolf during our visit to …Read more.

Fused Glass Pocket Mirror

Fused Glass Pocket Mirror

I love the look of fused glass with mirrors. Here are a few of the home decor mirrors I've made. Some are glass and mirror alone, some are a mix of mirror, glass, and wood (including mosaic pieces). I've also made a few fused glass handheld mirrors. Here are the two I've made so far. The full one is a …Read more.

Kanji Fused Glass and Wood Sign

Kanji Fused Glass and Wood Sign

Last month I made a sign for my good friend (pictured below) and I liked it so much I thought I'd make a new sign with glass and wood. I made these Kanji (Earth, Wind, Fire, and Water) fused glass pieces a while back, but I decided they'd look better as an art piece. The little art pieces are beautiful! …Read more.

Mission Wolf - Gifts

Mission Wolf - Gifts

I am a believer in giving back. I've donated fused glass pendants and other artwork to various charities. As anyone who talks to me or reads my newsletter knows I love Westcliffe. There is a place in Westcliffe that is a sanctuary for wolves. I'm not the best to donate physical labor, but I want to donate some glass to …Read more.

Westcliffe Train Depot - Gifts

Westcliffe Train Depot - Gifts

I wrote a post about my visit to the Westcliffe Train Depot a couple months ago. I noticed they have a small gift shop. I told them I'd be happy to give them some fused glass train magnets for them to sell and make a little bit more money. During June's DYK I showed off some of the fused glass …Read more.

Did you know ...

This section is used to answer any questions you may have or to pass on tidbits of information that add value and enhance knowledge regarding fused glass, metals, or jewelry in general. Let me know if you have anything you'd like me to discuss.

This "Did You Know" is about our annual vacation to Breckenridge. We had a wonderful time!  While we were there, we had several activities and below are just some of them.

We've lived in Colorado almost 18 years and I've always wanted to go to Maroon Bells. Well, this year we made it happen. It's beautiful and we had a perfect day for it. I took over 500 pictures. Here are just a few.

More pictures of Maroon Bells, these pictures don't come close to showing the true beauty of this lovely place. We walked around the loop, and it was just stunning. Look at that lake!  The flowers were also lovely.

---

On our way back from Maroon Bells we drove over Independence pass. You can't see them in these photos, but there were a lot of flowers.

In the past we've rented ATVs, bikes, side-by-sides, and even snowmobiles (during winter). But this time we rented a pontoon boat and spent 4 hours on lake Dillon. It was absolutely fabulous!

We had such a great time. What a beautiful day and fabulous views. We even saw a bald eagle. Dan even brought his drone, and we were able to take a few aerial shots. What a perfect day.

After our boat ride I wanted to go to our normal places to see the lake. The water was high and I'm so happy to see it.  No matter how you look at it, what a gorgeous lake!

---

Obviously we went to the river walk in Breckenridge (top 3 pictures).

The bottom 3 pictures are from the blue rivers. We love going there because normally we see mountain goats, but we can't drive up to where they are anymore albeit we could see them from a distance. That being said the views are still beautiful.

Sadly, there weren't as many flowers in either location as last year...beautiful.

Additionally, we visited 3 towns, albeit I didn't take any pictures of Leadville, but it's a cute little town.

The top 3 pictures are from Frisco. We've stayed there before, and we really like the town.

The bottom 3 pictures are from Breckenridge. I always visit the hall to see the artwork. It was interesting.

---

There weren't as many wildflowers, but at least the towns and resort had tons of flowers, and of course my favorite is the columbine - Colorado's state flower!

---

After we went to Breckenridge, we went to visit Dan's family. It was so great seeing Emeri and Ryan our new grandnieces. They are both so cute. I love seeing everyone.
