Small Fused Glass Dishes

Small Fused Glass Dishes

I love making fused glass dishes. I finished some small, fused glass dishes. The small 3-inch square dish below is made with a pattern bar. It's perfect for rings or a small candle or just as a pretty little dish. This tiny 3-inch dish is a mix of iridized glass and mica. It's very unique more of a decorative piece. …Read more.

New Fused Glass Pot-melts

New Fused Glass Pot-melts

In December I made fused glass pot-melts with my good friend Tracy. I enjoyed making them so much I made some more. Here they are in the kiln, I used a similar setup that Tracy and I used. Here they are, after fusing. I like seeing the pots with the glass in the bottom. Just like with Tracy not the …Read more.

Fused Glass Signs

Fused Glass Signs

I created something new this month and I think they are fun and beautiful. A friend of mine wanted a fused glass sign, but since it was only for a temporary purpose, I decided not to do a screen print and to make it erasable. I created two lovely, fused glass erasable signs. I do wish my penmanship was better, …Read more.

Fused Glass Hearts

Fused Glass Hearts

Tomorrow is Valentine's Day, so I've been making a lot of Fused Glass Hearts, this month. I've used different techniques to create my heart, this first group are quite large and are casted. They are a bit big for pendants but make great pocket hearts. The next technique is a new (from Tabitha) and I have to admit I didn't …Read more.

Commercial Fused Glass Soap Dishes

Commercial Fused Glass Soap Dishes

I received another order for fused glass soap dishes for a small hotel in California. I've been making soap dishes for this small hotel for quite some time. This time we decided on a blue and ivory soap dish. It reminds me of a beach - the blue represents water, and the ivory represents the sand. Here are some pictures …Read more.

Fused Glass Jewelry

Fused Glass Jewelry

One of my favorite things to create is fused glass jewelry. I finished quite a few pieces recently and wanted to show them off. The pieces below are all pressed glass. Glass wants to be 6mm thick, but when you press it, it's very thin yet durable. In the picture you can see I'm holding a normal cabochon and a …Read more.

Pot-melts with Tracy

Pot-melts with Tracy

In December Tracy came over and we created pot-melts. I have been trying to decide how to use mine, which is one of the reasons for the delay in writing this post. I love creating fused glass pot-melts because you never really know what you are going to get. Here are some pictures of use setting up the pots. It's …Read more.

Wissmach Glass

Wissmach Glass

There are several types of glass including Bullseye Glass and Oceanside Glass and I use both for different reasons. Another type of glass is Wissmach Glass, it's 96 COE glass. I normally use the Wissmach Luminescent glass, but they also have this beautiful glass called Prisma. Reactive Blue/Oyster Pearl Oyster Pearl / Reactive Blue I had a sheet of each …Read more.

Did you know ...

This section is used to answer any questions you may have or to pass on tidbits of information that add value and enhance knowledge regarding fused glass, metals, or jewelry in general. Let me know if you have anything you'd like me to include.

Normally I write a DYK about a technique or even a trip I took. I'll be honest I've had a very busy month and haven't had a chance to delve deep into a technique big enough for a DYK. So below are some things have been keeping me busy.

First, my husband had his first knee surgery. It's been difficult watching him go through the pain and recovery, but he's really doing well now. What an amazing and strong man I married.  Here is a picture of him, don't tell him I posted it.  I'm so very proud of him.

Another thing that's been keeping me busy is work, we finished up our Final Planning Conference in January. After an event we have to do a lot of work to get the files cleaned up and sent out to the participants. Now of course we're getting ready for our Capstone. I'm so proud of what we do for our participants and of course our sponsor. This year is our 25th year and I've been on the team 8 years in May.

I want to make something for work, but I'm not sure what to make them.

---

Speaking of work I got a chance to participate in a forum for Commercial Space. It was fascinating and I learned a lot. I didn't get a chance to do anything, but work however guess what was in the lobby of my hotel?  Yep, beautiful glass, they had them behind plexiglass, so the pictures aren't great but amazing glass.

We also went to Westcliffe several times. It just keeps getting prettier every time we go. Here are some pictures of the Sangre's

Here are some pictures of the house we stayed in.

Here are just a few of the pieces I made for the house including trivets, coasters, glass, ceramics, small dishes, etc.  I also made fused glass dishes, but I don't have a picture of them.

---

I also got to meet a wonderful new friend, her name is Donna and she is an inspector. Here is a picture of Tracy, Donna, and me. I love being with two strong capable women.

---

I also did all the amazing glass that I posted in the blogs in this newsletter.
