For February I'd like to open fused glass class options up to y'all. What fused glass class would you like to take? All you need is 3 people, and I can schedule it for you. Typically, classes are about 2 hours. No experience is necessary. Some of the supplies available for class including vitrigraph, frit, dots, etc. Max number of …Read more.

Normally each January I write a DYK regarding how well I did on my prior years fusing goals. But this year I wrote about my trip to Hawaii, however I didn't want to neglect my goals. One of the first things I wanted to do was update my website. I did update my site with my class section, but I …Read more.

When I was cutting some glass my saw made a odd sound and stop spinning. We opened up the saw and you can see the belt is broke. I like to write posts about my equipment issues because it helps my customers to know there is more to creating glass than just having fun. While Dan was changing out the …Read more.

I thought I'd make some small fused glass pieces with inclusions. This first group is special mica pieces I purchased from a fellow artist. Some I cut out e.g., hearts, and some she cut out like the cogs. The ones that are transparent can be pocket charms or I can drill holes in. The fused glass pieces that are opaque …Read more.

I love making vitrigraph, I know I've written a couple posts about them, but I can't help myself. The first picture is a pot prior to putting it in the kiln. The second two pictures are of the kiln starting to be prepared to pull. The 4 picture is the start of the pull. The last picture is a pot …Read more.

I love creating fused glass, but as I've mention I don't always finish my pieces. I love creating little panels for night lights. It took me a while, but I finally finished the ones below. I think they turned out great with all the vitrigraph, millefiori, and murrine. I also use the fused glass panels for votive covers. I think …Read more.

One of the most time consuming and challenging fused glass techniques I make are fused glass drop vases. There are several steps involved. The first thing you have to do is to make a glass slab so to speak. It needs to be kind of thick. Then you put it over a mold that has a hole - see pictures …Read more.

Last month I made some screen prints for a friend's house in Westcliffe, co-workers, as gifts, my niece, etc. I liked them so much I thought I'd make me some. First, I made some coasters, I love nature so I thought these would be perfect. They are nice thick cork. Next, I made some cork trivets. I made two nature …Read more.

Did you know ...This section is used to answer any questions you may have or to pass on tidbits of information that add value and enhance knowledge regarding fused glass, metals, or jewelry in general. Let me know if you have anything you'd like me to include. Normally my first DYK of the year is my glass goals for the past year. For those who follow me, know I have a job that takes me to various places for work. This month it took me to the Hawaiian Island of Oahu. I've been there several times over the years, the last time was in 2017. My glass goals are in a post up above.

Even though the picture shows all three of us it's was just me. Of course we went to Hawaii several times in the past. The first time was when she was 2.
Here is the view from my window. We were downtown Waikiki which was nice but the drive to the base was an hour a way. I also had a pina colada!
I worked the most of the time but our colonel said we could get here 1 day early to adjust to the time change, so I was able to see some sights Sunday.
Here are some views from the beach. I love Diamond Head. It was a beautiful morning.
I even put my feet in the water, it was so nice.
I also walked up by a small walk way out into the ocean and a man pointed out this gigantic turtle. At first I'm like, yeah nice rock. The turtle was huge and so cool.
One of my favorite places is the Hale Koa, I couldn't get a room there, but I always go and visit.
I love how peaceful it is, the beautiful trees, flowers, and of course the sound of birds. It's like going home, so beautiful. I love the banyan tree, it's gigantic.
We worked 13 hr days, but I stayed an extra day and got to do some more sight-seeing including walking on the beach again. It was so peaceful.
I love Banyan trees, they are so cool. This one was huge, but not as big as the one at Hale Koa.
So when I went there years ago the international market was more of a flea market type atmosphere, now it's all closed in and more of a mall, but it's still pretty. The 3 other pictures are vendors that were in the old international market. The waffle was the best waffle I've ever had, it was delicious!
I headed up the coast and stopped at one of the many beaches on my way. It was so green and pretty.
This is Hanauma Bay Nature Preserve. Years ago we went snorkeling there - so many fish and turtles. It's so beautiful.
This is the Lanai lookout. Last time we were here we saw whales, but I didn't see them this time.
This was a cool park, look at all the lava rock! Love it!
This is the Ka Iwi Scenic overlook. It was so pretty and that amazing water. I saw snorkelers, I was so envious of them.
This is a place I've never been, Ho'omaluhia Botanical Gardens. It was extraordinary. There is a lake, stunning mountains, trees, flowers, and so much more.
Look at the lake, the photos don't come close. It was magnificent and large!
Look at those trees and mountains.
I must have taken 200 pictures of this park, it was spectacular!
One of my favorite places is Ford Island. The USS Missouri is there, we toured it years ago so I just took pictures this time.
Another memorial you can see from Ford Island is the Arizona. Again, we went out to the Arizona memorial years ago, it's something every American should see.
When I had another position, we conducted exercises on Ford Island, that's how I learned about the island. I love this control tower, a site to see. Ford Island has a lot of history including Amelia Earhart.
There is also a museum, I went several years ago. It's pretty impressive.
This is an SBX (Sea-based X-Band) Radar. It's a floating, self-propelled early warning radar station. Ironically the only time I've seen it is here. I love the juxtaposition of something relatively modern with the past.
Even though I worked 13 hr days I love the men and women in my groups they are brilliant, and I learn so much just being around them. It was an amazing event. Here is the view my last night in Hawaii and of course my lava flow. I hope you don't mind me sharing my trip with you.
