Fabulous - Small Dish Fused Glass Class

Fabulous - Small Dish Fused Glass Class

Last Saturday, I had a wonderful small dish fused glass class. I really like the small group and we had lots of fun, and they did a fabulous job. Believe it or not there is a lot of prep work to get ready for a fused glass class, even for a small group (5 of us). I prepare the studio …Read more.

Follow-up to Sugar Casting

Follow-up to Sugar Casting

In July I wrote a post about my fused glass sugar castings. In that post I said I couldn't attach them to other things. Well, that turned out not to be accurate. I used some of the smaller ones on flower stakes. I really like them. You can still see the sugar technique. I love fused glass. I also added …Read more.

Fused Glass Christmas Tree Class

Fused Glass Christmas Tree Class

My good friend Tracy and her friend Geri came over for an impromptu Fused Glass Christmas Tree Class. We had a good time. They used vitrigraph, dots, and did a fabulous job. We made several and they gave me some recommendations for additional color of trees. The first one is before they are fired and the rest of them are …Read more.

Making a Gourd

Making a Gourd

I've mentioned my friend Merle several times. She's an amazing Gourd artist. Below are the gourds I've gotten from her. The big one is one she made specifically for me the other I traded with her at an art show. She's taken a few glass classes from me and the last time she took a class I asked her if …Read more.

Summer in Westcliffe

Summer in Westcliffe

I love flowers and one of my favorite things about Westcliffe and Colorado as a whole is the wildflowers. We went to Westcliffe last month and even though it's toward the end of summer the flowers are still especially amazing sunflowers. Here are some pictures of one of my favorite road. It's just so beautiful! Here are some views from …

Fused Glass Bears Displayed

Fused Glass Bears Displayed

A few months back I asked my good friend Tracy to cut bears out of special reactive glass (petrified wood and robin's egg blue) for me. She cut 4 bears out and I fired them. They turned out magnificently. Here they are - aren't they stunning? I have been struggling deciding how to display them. I went down to Westcliffe …Read more.

Did you know ...

This section is used to answer any questions you may have or to pass on tidbits of information that add value and enhance knowledge regarding fused glass, metals, or jewelry in general. Let me know if you have anything you'd like me to include.

One of my goals this year is finishing some of my fused glass projects up. I thought I'd do a DYK on how I'm doing. I've actually done quite well, I finished jewelry and artwork.

---

First fused glass Jewelry. I actually finished several styles of pendants. I still have some more to do (including earrings, rings, etc) but I'm very happy with what I have accomplished.  First, I used pinch bails for quite a few fused glass pendants. I drill holes when either a piece is transparent, and I don't want to see the bail on the other side. Or I both sides are pretty, and I want to be able to see both sides without seeing the bail.

I added bails to several fused glass cabochons. I think they turned out beautifully.

Lastly, I added cords to my fused glass donuts. Some of them I tied sliding knots and the others I added lobster clasps.

I also finished these four pendants. The left picture is of two essential oil pendants. I also love the large necklaces; I can't remember the name, but they have pinch bails on both sides.

I also made some fused glass snaps for both my tiny snaps and medium snaps. I'll be honest, I love quite a few of these and will be keeping some.

---

I added magnets to several fused glass cabochons. I think they turned out great. I like the tiny ones; they are so much fun. I have several of these in my cube at work.

---

I finished up my fused glass pocket hearts. These are so special to me.

I also finished up my fused glass pocket crosses, which I love. I wish the pictures would do them justice.

---

I added wire to the back of two of my fused glass buddha's. This is one is iridized red and quite large.

This fused glass Buddha is mine because if you look at the bottom it's been broken. I dropped it, but I still like it, so I've decided I want to keep it for myself. It's hanging in my screen-printing room.

---

I added chains to two more of my fused glass art pieces and now they are beautiful. I like both but the ones with the hands remind me that we are all in it together.  I got the hands from Tracy. I love her cutouts.

---

I slumped a couple of my fused glass platters. This is an iridized aventurine green. I wish the color would come through. The white and mauve is simple and different in it's shape.

---

I added night light brackets to five of my small, fused glass aspens and made them into night lights.

---

I added candle holders to a few more and now I have 4 more fused glass scenes and have these beautiful, fused glass candle screens.

---

Lastly, I added displays for two of my screen prints. I think they turned out wonderful. I am curious which display you like best.

---

It makes me feel so good when I completely finish my fused glass pieces. I'm curious which is your favorite. All of these and more will be in my Home Show on the 8th of October.
