Back in 2019, I wrote a post about this great couple that told me my buddha's aren't buddha's (male) but Kwan Yin / Quan Yin - Goddess of Compassion. I've made a few more - I never get tired of these beautiful pieces. Statue of Buddhist bodhisatvva Kuan Yin, I'd love to know which is your favorite? This first one …Read more.

I love screen printing on fused glass. Recently I sold several screen-printed pieces, so I decided to make a few more. One of the pieces I sold was my octopus' dish on white glass. So, I decided to make a large black dish with white enamel and a large white dish with black enamel. Then I made matching smaller pieces. …Read more.

Recently one of my customers asked me if I could make fused glass stars. Normally when I make fused glass stars, I make them this way. However, for Sharon, she wanted them a little different. I made a few variations. She picked two different sizes - 12 all together. I'm glad she liked them, and I am happy I have …Read more.

Last month I took a class with my good friend Lela. It was at a place called Brush Crazy here in Colorado Springs. You can make ceramics, wood, mosaic, painting, and more. We had so much fun. Lela is a special friend and I just can't imagine my life without her in it. Lela chose ceramic and I chose wood. …Read more.

I'm not sure if you've ever broken something that you didn't want to throw away. Normally when I break a piece of glass, I just refuse it. However, I made this piece and it didn't turn out the way I wanted. So, I did another firing to flatten it, then I added more glass and the deer then fused it …Read more.

I made some more fused glass flower magnets. I find these flower magnets beautiful and special. I like giving them as gifts to people who are sick, or if they've lost someone. They bring light and beauty anywhere you put them. I've added various murrine and millefiori. I hope you like them as much as I do. If you would …Read more.

Last Month I wrote a post about a gift I made for my mom for Mother's Day. When I shipped it to my sister so she could give it to my mom it arrived in 4 different pieces. I wrapped it really good, so I was devastated, by the loss. I really loved this piece. No pun intended; it broke …Read more.

One of my good customers and friend asked me if I had any fused glass poppies. I have the two below, one is pretty big and one I turned into an Ikebana vase. She wanted a smaller one, so I made her this poppy, the first two pictures are of the poppy before slumping. I made it in a …Read more.

I recently had an order for 200 fused glass ivory soap dishes for a hotel in Arizona. I enjoy making fused glass for hotels and restaurants. I love that hotels both big and small respect glass art and want handmade glass in their wonderful hotels. As you know I give a gift with order. This time I made a nice …Read more.

I have the luxury of having a job at that allows me to travel occasionally. The majority of the time I travel in the US, but this month I traveled to Paris France.
I’ve been to Paris several times in my life. The first time was with my boyfriend (at the time) in 1990. We went everywhere including Versailles. Wow, I was so young and so thin! Where does the time go!
For me, one of the most memorable trips to Paris was when my daughter was about 10 months old. We went everywhere, we had so much fun. I took my baby all the way up to the top of the Tower. In fact, I always tell her about how she started crying in the elevator so I started singing to her (BTW I can't care a tune in the bucket), and she stopped crying. Here are some pictures of my Mom, Daughter, and me in Paris in 2000. We took a river cruise, saw the Arch of Triomphe, the Louvre, Sacre-Coeur, and Eiffel Tower. We had a blast and she was such a good baby.
For my daughter's 13th birthday I took her back to Paris. We rode the bus and then went all over Paris. We even took the river cruise again.
Here is Notre Dame before the fire. Isn't it beautiful!
We went to Paris on the train from Germany. It was so much fun! I also took her all over Germany on that trip, showed her the Mosel river - one of my most favorite places in Germany.
For my work trip this month, we stayed in the city of Versailles a only a block from the palace. If memory serves me I visited the palace the first time I was stationed in Germany in my early 20s.
Versailles is huge and so beautiful. I liked the outside, all the sculptures and just the overall grandeur of it. And of course the History. WOW.
Here are just a few of the rooms, so ornate and lovely.
Here is the other side of the palace, the fountains were immense and of course the sculptures.
Anyway, I spent several hours walking around the palace and the gardens. It’s huge and stunningly beautiful. Here are a few pictures from the palace and the gardens. BTW I ended up with the biggest blister you've ever seen.
There are so many gardens this is a lower one and of course the fountains. I wish these pictures could truly show how gorgeous it is. If you ever go to Paris, take the 40 min train ride to Versailles.
We worked long hours, but we were able to go out to dinner every night. I didn’t take many pictures of the food because it was so good I just couldn't stop eating to take pictures. Ironically the only food pictures I took were of crepes. To say the least I love the food! One night a co-worker and I went out to dinner, albeit we couldn’t read anything on the menu. This beautiful couple next to us offered to translate for us. They proceeded to tell us what to order and then asked us what we were going to drink. We said tea and they said no you need to order wine and then ordered our wine. Both the wine and dinner (fish Pastry with sauce ) was absolutely sublime! What wonderful people. In fact I didn’t have any negative experience in Paris or Versailles, everyone was friendly!
On our last day we had the majority of the day to go sightseeing. I took the train to Paris and got out at Notre Dame. It's too bad it's still closed. I liked how they handled the reconstruction though. It was a rainy day in Paris, but I didn't let that stop me.
This is Saint Michel's Fountain. It was gorgeous. It's close to Notre Dame.
I also walked along the Seine River, I didn't take the cruise this time but I do love walking along the river. There were a few down pours and it was difficult holding the umbrella and taking pictures at the same time.
I love this bridge - the Pont Alexandre III. Isn't it spectacular? I love the statues, the gold, the light posts, and of course the view! I must have taken more than 30 pictures.
On the way to the Eiffel Tower there was this living wall. It was incredible. There was also a beautiful tree lined section. I'm not sure what the other thing was, but I found it interesting, I wished I had time to go into it, but I had a tour scheduled so I just couldn't go in.
I found the Effie tower kind of sad. When my daughter and I where there we could walk under the tower without paying. It’s so sad it's all closed off now unless you pay. Compare these pictures with when my daughter was a baby and when she was 13 you can see how it's changed.
In all the times I’ve been to Paris I never made it to the catacombs. Me and some of my co-workers took the self-guided tour. It was fascinating and I’m glad I went. I've always liked visiting graveyards and this is the most fascinating one I've ever been too.
After the catacombs we stopped off at a bakery; I love European pastries. Then we went to a chocolate store; the chocolate was melt in your mouth delicious. Then we went to a pizza place; I love pizza in Europe it’s so good. The waiter was Egyptian and was friendly and very helpful!
Then I walked around the Latin Quarter, isn't Sainte-Genevieve Church lovely? I love European architecture.
As I walked in the Latin quarter I saw the Pantheon. Again the architecture is fabulous!
It was a long day and after a cappuccino and another crepe I headed back to the hotel. I liked taking the train and had no issues. I had a kabob for dinner, again so much better than the states.
