I'll have all kinds deals and of course a gift for you all when you come to see me. In fact, I'd love to know what y'all would like me to give as gifts; in the past I've given away pendants, stirrers, Christmas ornaments, earrings, rings, small dishes, etc.

I mentioned last month that I'm working on a lot of production orders. Well with the help of Tracy I finished another order - 460 ivory glass soap dishes. It's a lot of cutting, washing, and firing but it's also very satisfying to get them boxed up and sent. They are 2 layers so I cut clear and ivory, then …Read more.

I love fused glass pot-melts, check out some of the links below to see other pot-melts I've done in the past. Normally I make bowls or art out of my pot-melts and here are just a few of the ones I made in the past. I also made pendants with the fused glass pot-melt technique. I really love the depth …Read more.

I love glass and all the amazing things you can make with it. Last month Lela and I were visiting my friend Coral and she showed this beautiful Glass Filigree Sun-catcher (it's made with a stained glass technique). So Lela and I signed up for it. But instead of using Coral's glass Lela and I made the glass at my …Read more.

I'm not sure if you've watched "The Land Before Time" series when you were young, but I loved Little Foot, Ducky, Petrie, Spike, and even Cera. Anyway when I was over at Tracy's shop she showed me her new glass cutouts and I just couldn't help myself I took them all - they are just too cute. I made them …Read more.

As my followers know I'm retired Air Force and left my home town in my early twenties. I went home once around 20 years ago, albeit I haven't been home since. *BTW this is a little glass related, I gave all of them some glass pieces and if you look close Laurie, Teresa, and Chris (Freddie's wife) are wearing them! …Read more.

I've mentioned my good friend Tracy several times, but I have to give credit where credit is due. Tracy made a beautiful fused glass charcuterie board and I asked her to cut me a couple out with her water-jet cutter. Normally I don't post process pictures, but since it's just cutting and layering which is the basic fused glass process …Read more.

Did you know ...This section is used to answer any questions you may have or to pass on tidbits of information that add value and enhance knowledge regarding fused glass, metals, or jewelry in general. Let me know if you have anything you'd like me to include. This month's DYK is about my Boot Camp Glass Class at AAE Glass in Cape Coral Florida. In 2020 I was scheduled to take a class at AAE glass and we all know what happened in 2020. But when we were trying to reschedule the instructor I was going to take the class with wasn’t teaching in 2021 so I asked Tanya what class I should take and she said her big boot camp class. I took this class a few years ago, but she said it’s changed and I should take it again and I’m so glad I did. Bottom-line up front, it was fantastic, superb, amazing, wonderful, and so many other superlatives! Tanya Viet is a fabulous instructor, if you haven't taken an in-person class with her, you just don't know what you are missing.
I love glass and I love taking classes in person, because there is nothing like being with like-minded people. My deepest gratitude to Tanya, Karen, Patty, Deb, Gina, Mary, Lli, and Debby.

As you know I never post process pictures and this post is no exception. We did 6 techniques and I loved them all. Here are my fused glass pieces.
We did 2 screen prints after creating the backgrounds. I do screen prints all the time, but I’m so happy with these. Aren’t they fabulous! They are suppose to be slumped into little dishes (they are food safe) but I'm not sure; I love them as little art pieces. What do y'all think?
A reconstruction piece, I’m going to slump this one into a plate mold. I really like this technique I may even make me some dishes in this style. (similar to my soap dishes but bigger). I put it in the stand so you can see it's all translucent except for the center.
This is a reaction carving piece. I may slump it or leave it as an glass art sculpture. It's a pretty cool piece no matter what I do with it.
I make jewelry out of this technique all the time, but this was my first time making a bowl. I’m so pleased with my colors. We made a lot of test tiles and think picked our favorite to make.(Thanks Lli.) We also cold-worked this piece with a flat lap. It’s so smooth!
I'm not sure how to describe this piece. I love the leaves and flowers but I'd do my background different. It's a great technique I just have to work on some of the design elements.
I think this is my favorite technique and also one of the most time consuming. The 3 pictures on the left is after sandblasting and the 2 on the right I shined it up a bit but it still has the matte finish (which I love). Isn't it beautiful. I need to get a stand for it but I just love it. I wish you could see how truly fantastic it is!
AAE's store is fantastic, here are just a few views. They have everything a glass artist could want and the staff is extremely helpful.
This is the class room, it was so organized and had absolutely everything you need to make extraordinary glass! Additionally there is a cold-working room (for some reason I don't have any pictures of it but she has 5 or 6 huge kilns, several saws, 2 gigantic flat laps, a vitrigraph kiln, and a sandblaster. Again, you have everything you need. *BTW we had a visitor one day, Isn't he cute.
My favorite part of the AAE facility is all the glass artwork everywhere! Here is just a fraction of the art they have displayed. I had to narrow it down, but there are hundreds of glass art all over the facility, some by Tanya and some by the artists she hosts. I could have spent hours just looking at them! BTW I'm not sure if I've ever said this before, but I LOVE GLASS!
I want to give a shout out to my talented classmates: Gina, Mary, Deb, Lli, and Debby. These women were kind, beautiful, and extremely talented. I don’t show other people’s work because I don't think it's proper, but I must admit their artwork was much better than mine - absolutely stunning.
I love glass and really needed to be around some glass lovers and these women filled the need and then some. Thank you ladies.
I also thank Tanya's assistants; Thank you Karen (yes we had lots of fun with one another on that) and Patty. We could not have done the class without them. They were generous, helpful, talented, and wonderful to put it mildly. Thank you ladies.
Sorry Tanya, I can't do a detailed post about AAE Glass without a picture of you. You are the heart and soul of AAE Glass and a huge part of the glass fusing world. I’ve known you so long and you are such a fabulous instructor, an amazing artist, and a great friend. It was so wonderful seeing you again, I’ve missed you!! I love you Tanya thank you for everything!

While I was in Cape Coral I stayed in a wonderful Airbnb. What a beautiful host and a lovely house and pool. It was truly a home away from home!
Right across the street was a nesting site for burrowing owls. This was also my first time seeing borrowing owls. So cool - I wish I could have gotten closer but I didn’t want to scare them.
What a fantastic trip; glass, wildlife, and family what more could I want!!
