Fused Glass Trees

Fused Glass Trees

I've made fused glass trees e.g., aspen, etc. many times before but these are a new technique. I'm not sure if I've mentioned Tabitha before, she's a fused glass instructor in Croatia. I really enjoy her videos, she's so much fun to watch. Anyway she did a video on these cool little fused glass trees. I'm really drawn to them, …Read more.

Metal and Glass Fruit Bowl

Metal and Glass Fruit Bowl

One of my Fused Glass goals for 2020 and 2021 was to use the glass and findings that I have on hand. Yes my name is Karen and I tend to buy glass and findings then like them so much I don't want to use them. I know it's ridiculous! Anyway this year I was organizing and found this great …Read more.

Fused Glass Flower Cabochons

Fused Glass Flower Cabochons

While I was making the scenic pendants I fell in love with the "part sheets" I decided to use some of them as bases for fused glass flower pendants, magnets, etc. I've made them before and I love them so much it's difficult not to make more of them. Here are a few of my new ones. Another reason why …Read more.

Bases for Fused Glass Art

Bases for Fused Glass Art

Sometimes when I make a fused glass art piece it just needs a little something extra. Whether it's a bowl that doesn't have a flat bottom. (I talked about this earlier this month.) Adding a base really makes the difference. In addition to adding a removable base for bowls vase look different when a base is added. This is a …Read more.

Fused Glass Scenic Pendants

Fused Glass Scenic Pendants

I have had many fused glass instructors over the years and Tanya Veit from AAE Glass is one of my favorites. The first class I took from her when she was still doing traveling classes, It was mind blowing! I've taken numerous classes in her studio in Florida and watched countless videos she's created. I've met some of my best …Read more.

Colorful Fused Glass Frit

Colorful Fused Glass Frit

I've wanted to write this post for a long time. The frit is from a fellow artist named Val Cox. It's extremely bright and colorful and so fun to use. The first thing I like to do is to make test sheets. Here are two of my test examples. It comes in powder and medium frit. The picture on the …Read more.

Slumping Fused Glass

Slumping Fused Glass

This month when I was putting away some of my fused glass artwork from my art show, I realized some of my dishes had round bottoms. I like it dishes that are what I call kinetic (move), but some people don't. So I took some of my favorite molds and re-slumped some of my bowls to flatten the bottom. The …Read more.

Casted Fused Glass Hearts

Casted Fused Glass Hearts

Last month I wrote a post about a custom fused glass pyramid I made for my friend of mine. It was beautiful and I enjoyed the challenges involved in making the pyramid. Since I enjoyed making the pyramid I decided to create a couple casted fused glass hearts. I think they are pretty and fun and kind of a challenge …Read more.

Did you know ...

This section is used to answer any questions you may have or to pass on tidbits of information that add value and enhance knowledge regarding fused glass, metals, or jewelry in general. Let me know if you have anything you'd like me to include.

Normally each new year I do a review of my glass activities that I accomplished  in the past year and what I want to accomplish during the new year.

This was my list for 2020 and how I did during the year. I've highlighted my priorities in purple.

• Redo my website - this is critical. Not only do I want to add more glass, I want to change the host.

**Actually Dan updated my website and got me a new host to focus on my blogs. I love it. However, I still need to update my shopping section of my website.

• I love molds and I want to use a new mold every month, wait until you see some of my molds!

**I am doing pretty good using various molds; both slumping and casting.

• Clean my studio.

**I did this. My studio is in pretty good shape it helps me be more creative.

• Use the products I buy

**I'm doing a decent job on using my products, but I still have a ways to go.

• Make glass projects using tutorials I've purchased

** This is one area I need to work on during 2021, I love learning so I buy tutorials and then forget to use them.

• Continue to make glass YouTube videos (I've actually made a few this past year)

** I did several and want to continue to expand on making them

• Continue to use the glass I have on hand

** Doing great on this one, the only glass I buy for the most part is clear or for a specific order

• Take 2-3 in person glass classes (right now I have Nathan, Margurite, and hopefully Craig

**This was a definite no, I so hope I'll be able to take one or two in person but who knows.

I am curious which of the techniques I did last year should I make more of this year?

I'm thinking Butterflies, Flowers, & dragonflies?

Which do you like best? Or something else?

Thank you very much for your support over the last year. My plan is to do another home show this spring, but if you would like to purchase anything in my blogs or newsletters please email me.
