I send my newsletter at the end of the month but I hoped y'all had a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Years. Let's hope 2021 is a better year for America and for the World than 2020.

I love pictures of my granddaughter. I love taking the pictures and putting them on glass. One of the fused glass pieces I've made is a stand with pictures of Mzia. The flat ones are baked right on the glass and the others are on magnets so I can change them out. Recently I made more glass magnets with Mzia …Read more.

This year I made some fused glass Christmas cards. The first one was a gift for a girlfriends mom, it's a magnet. The middle one is for my mom, it's an ornament. I also made 1 more magnet card for my good friend Lela. This isn't the first time I made fused glass cards. I also made fused glass mother's …Read more.

I wrote a couple of posts a while back about two stained glass classes I took with my good friend Lela. One was Lead and the other was Foil. Lela was so good at stained glass she made one for her mom. When she came over to my home show in addition to ornaments we took a few of my …

Earlier this month I wrote about my friend Ramona and the fused glass pyramid I made for her. I also made a custom red fused glass spoon rest for Ramona. Ramona and I worked together on the size and shape of the spoon rest. The first two I made were beautiful, albeit not exactly what she wanted. BTW they don't …Read more.

If you follow my newsletters you know I create custom commercial fused glass pieces for various hotels and restaurants. This month I received a very unique order. A restaurant wanted me to create fused glass amber leaf bowls. I drew a design and then hand cut the leaf from two different colors of amber and clear glass. They are definitely …Read more.

A good friend of mine recently asked me to make her a fused glass pyramid. You may not know this but fused glass likes to be 6 mm or 1/4 inch thick. What I mean by that is when you put glass in the kiln at full temperatures (1450-1480) and it’s not dammed it will flow out to 6mm. If …Read more.

This is a bit of an odd post because it's 2 parts. Custom Fused Glass Christmas ornaments and gifts. I put them together because even though they are all different, they are all gifts. First the ornaments. For 2020 I created four 2020 custom mask ornaments. I kept one, gave one two my son, and gave one to my work …Read more.

Do you remember that line from You've Got Mail, "I was decorating my Christmas tree and unwrapping funky ornaments..." well I feel that way every Christmas. I have ornaments that my kids made when they were little and a couple of my polymer clay ornaments. I have ornaments from where I was stationed e.g., Germany & Japan. It's just a …Read more.

This is a difficult post to write, which is why it has taken several months to write it. For those who follow my newsletter and live in Colorado, you may remember I have some of my fused glass at Tulips in Denver. In August Sharon, the owner and my friend passed away. To say the least I will miss …Read more.

Did you know ...This section is used to answer any questions you may have or to pass on tidbits of information that add value and enhance knowledge regarding fused glass, metals, or jewelry in general. Let me know if you have anything you'd like me to include. For this month I'd like to do a year in review of some of my favorite fused glass art pieces I've made this year. It's been a challenging year and without my family, friends, and of course my glass I just don't know how I would have handled it. This is my way of showing there were a lot of great things that happened this year.
Three of my absolute favorite things I've made this year are my Flowers, Butterflies, and Dragonflies. I never get tired of making them. I love them so much. Which is your favorite?
Here are just a few of my butterflies. I love all the ways they can be displayed.
I'm still struggling with displaying my dragonflies but I think they are amazing. I'll show you when I figure out how to display them.
This year I took several classes. Two Stained glass classes, a mosaic class (virtual), fused glass, and a wood/macrame class. I love learning new things! so much fun! I especially like taking classes with Lela!
During my home shows, I also gave small project classes, including casting, decals, and Christmas ornaments.
With this year of art & craft show cancellations I want to thank all my fantastic customers including Jaxs, Ann, Melanie, Melissa, Carla, Ramona, John, and so many more who came to my home shows in March, July, and November. You may not realize this but seeing y'all lifted my spirits and let me share my love of glass with others. I love you guys. Thank you for your friendship and support.
I also want to send a special thank you to some customers who had me create custom pieces for them. Laura gave me the honor making fused glass memorial pieces for her and her family. Thank you and bless you and your family. Katherine asked me to create a custom fused glass wedding cake center piece. It was quite a challenge but I loved making it for her and her new husband.
Rebecca and Jody had me create fused glass pieces they could use in their own artwork. What a privilege because their art is stunning. Thank you both for incorporating my fused glass art into your beautiful artwork.
I also want to thank my customers far away: like Denise in Texas for ordering my fused glass art. It meant more to me than you know. Denise was the first person who bought one of my butterflies or should I say 6 butterflies. The butterflies are a challenge to make and I thought I was the only one that was going to see their true beauty. Thank you Denise!!
And of course I don't know how I would have handled it without my commercial production orders. Thank you Matt, Maggi, and Larry. Your support of American Fused Glass Artists means more than I can express. Your support this year helped me immensely! Thank you!
On a personal note I want to thank my friends. They bring me such joy and happiness. I am so blessed to have such true friends in my life. I love you all!
Even with COVID I was able to travel to various places in Colorado with my family including: Steamboat Springs, Breckenridge, Glenwood Springs, Rifle Falls, Independence Pass, Rocky Mountain Park, Bishop's Castle, etc., I love Colorado and thank God every day that I live here. Which says a lot for a Florida Girl.

I bet y'all thought I wouldn't mention Westcliffe or include it as a place we went this year. Westcliffe stands alone. We enjoy it so very much and go as often as we can. It gives us peace, joy, and serenity. Westcliffe is my heaven on earth and I never get tired of exploring it. We went earlier this month, we just drove around, relaxed, drank wine, and enjoyed each other's company. I'm looking forward going back in January.

For what a challenging year, my glass work has help me through it. If you'd like to know about any of my fused glass artwork please email me elegantfusedglass@gmail.com.
