I hope y'all are staying safe and I hope you enjoy my Newsletter for June 2020.

I have Good news and Bad news. First the Bad news; both Woodland Park and Rockledge Ranch art shows are canceled for this year. I am really disappointed about this and it pains me to tell y'all I really like the outdoor shows. I haven't heard from Liberty, Rampart, or Doherty high schools yet, but I'll keep y'all informed.

As far as the good news. Since I've been working on so many glass projects I've decided to have a home show on the 25th of July at 0900-1600 (or 9am-4pm). Please email me at elegantfusedglass@gmail.com if you'd like to come to my home show and let me know if there is something specific you'd like me to display. Obviously there will be a free fused glass present for anyone who comes over, you'll get your discount, and I'm thinking about showing y'all how to put a decal on glass. Let me know what do y'all think of that idea.

Fused glass

Fused glass

I'm not sure what to call this new fused glass technique maybe kaleidoscope. I learned it from an e-book, her focus was on making hearts which is the first pieces I made. Aren't they interesting? I really love the process, it's pretty time consuming but I love the different techniques that go into each piece. In addition to the fused glass hearts …Read more.

Pressed Fused Glass

Pressed Fused Glass

So I've been playing with a new fused glass technique, called pressed glass. I tried it years ago from an e-book but I didn't care for it. Then one of my favorite glass instructors (Tanya Veit) did a video on pressing big pieces and then I watched another video on small presses! It's funny how that happens. These are two …

Horseback riding, Breckenridge

Horseback riding, Breckenridge

In my last post about my family trip to Breckenridge I talked about the places we went to. In this post I thought I’d talk about our activities. My daughter and I went horseback riding in White River National forest. It was fun and so beautiful. We normally try to go horseback riding anytime it's available. Another day my husband and …Read more.

Breckenridge, Colorado

I enjoy traveling so much and I like to share my adventures. We try to take at least one big trip a year and since we love the mountains we go to Breckenridge Colorado the majority of the time. Mainly because we own a timeshare up there. The first picture is the grand lodge, the second is the view, the …Read more.

Fun in Westcliffe, CO

Fun in Westcliffe, CO

I think I've made it pretty clear I love Westcliffe. In fact, we try to go once a month. The last time we went it was pretty closed up because of the COVID. But when it opened up we decided it was time to take our daughter, Sky, for a visit. I know it's kind of silly but we wanted …

Did you know ...

This section is used to answer any questions you may have or to pass on tidbits of information that add value and enhance knowledge regarding fused glass, metals, or jewelry in general. Let me know if you have anything you'd like me to include.

Over the last couple months I've been silk screen printing again. I've screen printing several times over the years and I've always enjoyed it. I've it so much and created so many fused glass pieces that I can't put it in a post, so I thought I'd write a did you know about them.

NOTE:  The dishes are for decorative purposes and are not food safe.

---

These were some of my first pieces I created. I screened the designs to clear glass then I fused them to the design .

---

These I call my scenery screen prints. I actually made these screens in a class I took with Laurie Spray and never used them after class.

---

I painted the background then screen printed with white enamels. The two on the outside are relatively small decorative dishes.  The bird is pretty large. These 3 are really pretty.

NOTE:  The dishes are for decorative purposes and are not food safe.

---

These are on luminescent glass. I decided to hang them. They look great.

The hummingbird is so pretty that I'm not sure if I should slump it, hang it, or put it on a stand/easel. The one thing to remember is if I leave it flat and someone want it slumped I can do that, however it's much harder to "unslump it".

---

These I painted with two colors. They are both relatively small decorative dishes.

NOTE:  The dishes are for decorative purposes and are not food safe.

These I pained with multiple colors then screen printed. I'm hanging the eagle, the birds are are actually a mantle scone, and I haven't decided what to do with the turtle yet.

---

These I screen printed then I painted the back. I think I'll be playing with this more, maybe with my bear.

NOTE:  The dishes are for decorative purposes and are not food safe.

---

These I screen printed then added powder to the other side fused again then added vitrigraph, murine, and a back panel then fused again. I really love the texture.

These mountains have a textured moon. Plus the background is iridized so it's really a pretty piece.

---

I also made some design plates. I just love these because you can make them into anything you want. The pieces on the right are the first stage. They are on clear and can be cut and then put on another piece of glass and refired.

Here are some of the pieces I made with other design plates. I just love the design plates.

NOTE:  The dishes are for decorative purposes and are not food safe.

So from the blue I made a pendant and a couple of night light or candle shield pieces and a business card holder.

I made pendants out of the blue, red, and I made a white piece I haven't finished yet too. I really like the background designs. They can be used for so many things.

---

This is one of my favorite pieces. It was one of the pieces that Tanya (from AAE glass) showed us, it's so simple and yet so pretty. BTW Tanya makes the majority of the screens I use.

NOTE:  The dishes are for decorative purposes and are not food safe.

---

Here are a few more of my screen printed pieces.

I'm so happy with my screen prints. I hope you like them. Please let me know what your favorite is, elegantfusedglass@gmail.com.

Isn't fused glass awesome!
