I have been busy making new fused glass pieces for my show at the Holly Berry Festival 16-18 Sep. I’m asked a lot to make purple pieces. These are pretty cool one is a dark purple with Victorian flower texture and the other is a streaky purple with cherry blossom. These fused glass purple dishes are perfect center pieces or for candy, candles, or anything you can think of. If you would like to see more of my fused glass work please refer to...

Fused Glass Wine Rack – July mold

Posted by on Jul 14, 2016 in Art, Blog, fused glass | 0 comments

My mold for August is a Fused Glass wine rack mold. I chose a beautiful piece of glass so I didn’t change it a lot other than fused it with apiece of iridized glass which gives it depth.  The glass as aventurine green, white, purple and really amazing.                       It’s not only beautiful it’s functional.  The fused glass  wine rack can hold 4 wine bottles on the bottom then 3, then 2, then 1...

Fused Glass – Rolled up!

Fused Glass – Rolled up!

In some of my past blogs I have written about a couple of classes I’ve taken. One of my more recent classes was with Patty Gray where we learned to use her molds effectively. One of the pieces I made I didn’t care for a whole lot.  The glass I used only has the color on one side so when it fused you could see the edges of the glass, which was white. This wouldn’t bother most people, but I just didn’t care for it.  Here is what it looked like when I...

In keeping with my new rule of writing a blog about my many fused glass molds I picked up 3 new fused glass casting molds this week. I talked a little about casting in January’s doggy bowl blog because the doggy paw were casted and in February a part of the fused glass pot melts was that they melted into cast molds.                   My new molds are cool...

Wow do I have a few specials fused glass pieces to show you for my December fresh out of the kiln. This fused glass dish is strictly an art piece and is a combination of several techniques. The crystal edges add an elegance that is stunning to the eye and to the touch. But what you can’t see in the...

Fused Glass – Amethyst Birthstone

Posted by on Feb 3, 2014 in Birthstones, Blog | 0 comments

February’s birthstone is the Amethyst. Amethyst is also the sixth year anniversary gemstone of marriage. According to Wikipedia, in ancient Greece, the gemstone was associated with the god of wine, and it was common practice to serve this beverage from amethyst goblets in the belief that this would prevent overindulgence. Even today, amethyst is considered a stabilizing force for those struggling to overcome addictive behaviors. Once amethysts were considered more...

Fused Glass Mantel Sconces

Posted by on Dec 23, 2013 in Blog | 0 comments

I have handcrafted several Fused Glass Mantel Sconces with various designs. I loved my fused glass Aspens sconces (all of which sold recently). Matter of Fact the only two I have left are the Star of David and the Santa. I’m sure you are wondering what is a mantel sconce. Well a sconce typically covers a light and mounts on a wall. However, I create fused glass mantel sconces that can sit anywhere (including a...

What are Millefiori & Murrine? And how are they used with Fused Glass

Posted by on Sep 26, 2013 in Blog | 0 comments

In some of my Fused Glass work you may see the words Millefiori or Murrine and you may not know what they are so I thought I’d write a blog about both. The Millefiori is an ancient technique (first appeared in the Mideast more than 4,000 years ago) and was revived in Venice in the sixteenth century and in France and England in the nineteenth century. Millefiori in Italian stand for a thousand flowers...

Spa Bar with Fused Glass Embellishment

Posted by on Jun 30, 2013 in Blog | 0 comments

The Crystal Glass Spa Bar is similar to the nail files I have on the site and  are European made and won’t wear down. The spa bars help keep your feet soft and smooth. They are easy to clean with warm water.  (size 5 1/4 x  1 1/4 inches). The dichroic embellishment can be  custom made to meet your choice of color and type (dichroic etc). As I mentioned, this one is mine so I made it from green dichroic glass on a purple spa bar....
