Fused Glass Flowers Technique

One of my New Years goals for my fused glass is I have decided to revisit some of my favorite techniques from some of the classes I’ve taken. In Nov 2015, I took a 3 day fusing class with Patty Gray in Denver, Colorado with my good friend Pam. I wrote a blog about it at the time but then didn’t really do many of the fused glass techniques after class. It wasn’t that I didn’t like the fused glass techniques I just got busy and time passed. Anyway as I...

Fused Glass – Texture

Fused Glass – Texture

Posted by on Oct 11, 2016 in Art, Blog, fused glass | 0 comments

I love fused glass and one of the things I enjoy about glass is you can make it into so many things. One of my favorite techniques is called kiln carving or bas relief. One way to do that is to put the glass on a textured mold and it will pick up that texture. I like using iridized glass because it has a rainbow effect and it makes the texture more interesting. Some of my favorites are lady in the woods and greenman. I like to make them with green iridized, but of course...

As those who follow my fused glass newsletter know I love fused glass. As I’ve said a thousand times Glass is so versatile and you can make anything with it! Recently I bought some amazing molds, molds that make flowers! So I filled my kiln with them and tried them out.                       After I made them I slumped a few of them, aren’t they beautiful! I have one more but I’ll do another blog about...

Fused Glass – Garden Mushrooms

Fused Glass – Garden Mushrooms

Posted by on Apr 11, 2016 in Art, Blog, fused glass | 0 comments

Yep you read that right this blog is about my brand new fused glass garden mushrooms. I watched this video on how to make fused glass mushrooms. Luckily for me I had several molds that would work. The artist gave really great directions and so I used a similar process for the green one. It’s a tad bit rough around the edges but the next time I slumped a new fused glass mushroom I reduced the temp so it’s more of a smooth texture.        ...

Easter is just around the corner so I thought I’d show some options for Easter Fused Glass Pendants. I like these because some are little Easter angels, some are bunnies. I also have some beautiful Fused Glass Religious pendants.                     And of course since with the coming of Easter, spring is right around the corner too so here are some of my fused glass flowers...

May Fused Glass Flowers

The first full week of May brought a lot of rain for Colorado Springs. And even though the saying goes “April showers bring May flowers” after watching Cara’s video (in my May fused glass review) I thought I’d make some fused glass flowers for May. Following Cara’s instructions it was extremely easy and lots of fun! I even made some fused glass leaves. They are on...

Spring is here and I’m so ready as evident by this blog.  What made me think of it was a good friend of mine was talking about the fused glass garden art I made her a couple years ago.  I made it for her because her garden is beautiful and I wanted to test out the concept. So I made her one that I thought was really pretty and she seemed happy with it. In January we we talking and she told me it was still out side and I’m like oh no – it’s going to...

March’s Fresh From the Kiln is based on this month’s fused glass review.  I wrote a my fused glass review blog about one of Webinar Wednesday’s club Fused Glass Artist’s Cara. I enjoy her videos. But the video I blogged about was about iridized glass. Ever since I watched Bullseye’s video on iridized glass the technique has been on my list of fused glass techniques to try. So I...

What are Millefiori & Murrine? And how are they used with Fused Glass

Posted by on Sep 26, 2013 in Blog | 0 comments

In some of my Fused Glass work you may see the words Millefiori or Murrine and you may not know what they are so I thought I’d write a blog about both. The Millefiori is an ancient technique (first appeared in the Mideast more than 4,000 years ago) and was revived in Venice in the sixteenth century and in France and England in the nineteenth century. Millefiori in Italian stand for a thousand flowers...
