Last month I created a myriad of fused glass projects for the holiday seasons. Two that I finished recently are beautiful so I want to show them off. The first one is a very larch casted fused glass cross. It’s large and thick glass. I fused a wire loop in so it’s self hanging as well.           This next fused glass dish is a turtle shell texture. It’s so much prettier than the picture shows. It’s iridized and has so much...

Commercial Fused Glass Soap Dishes

Commercial Fused Glass Soap Dishes

Posted by on Aug 26, 2016 in Blog, fused glass | 0 comments

A few blogs ago I talked about my commercial fused glass soap dishes. The one is for a hotel in California. I made 200 fused glass soap dishes. It was a lot of work. This is tough glass so it’s not your typical fusing schedule or cutting. First I cut the glass into the size requested.             Then I file the edges either with hand pads or with a wetbelt sander.             Then I wash them then fuse them...

Which Fused Glass Bowl Did They Choose?

Which Fused Glass Bowl Did They Choose?

In January and February. I blogged about one of my fabulous customers who bought one of my handcrafted fused glass aspens and broke it. I’ve always told my customers if they break a fused glass piece that they buy from me to bring me the pieces and I’ll make them something from the remains. Well she took me up on my offer and I made 2 fused glass bowls for her to pick from.                     *BTW aren’t...

Last month I wrote a blog about a fused glass bowl I made out of the remains of once was a beautiful fused glass Aspen sconce. As I mentioned in that blog that the Aspen was so large (with a little extra glass), I was able to make two bowls. The second fused glass bowl I made what’s called a screen melt. I’m actually going to write a Did You Know for this month’s newsletter going a little more detail. So after I took a hammer to the the rest of the Aspen,...

Steel Blue and Opaline Fused Glass

Posted by on Jun 17, 2015 in Art, Blog, fused glass | 0 comments

Bullseye glass is so cool they have a myriad of different types of glass that are very interesting. Two very unique types of bullseye glass I want to show off tonight is steel blue and opaline glass. I love the steel blue glass because when you fuse clear glass on the steel blue whether it’s stringer, vitrigraph, or frit the steel blue turns blue and where there isn’t any clear it turns a grey or silver. That is if you fire it just right! When I made my samples...

I’ve had several items fresh from the kiln however, most of them are items my customers know and love, mainly my aspens! Instead of showing them again I thought I’d show you another fused glass artwork  that is more abstract. I think of it as my earth sculpture. It’s a screen melt that is just beautiful and about 1/2 an inch thick. I’m not sure if you can truly see how beautiful it is. I also added little dichroic...

Wow what can I say about this amazing piece. It’s a fused glass crackle art panel and it’s stunning. I made a stand for it but I also ordered a metal frame for it as well. In addition, to the crackle I made a fused glass wafer with a green dragonfly then added a dragonfly decal. It’s truly a beautiful fused glass art piece. Let me know what you think, it’s not on my...
