Fresh From the Kiln:

I know that this fused glass piece may seem simple for a fresh out of the kiln, but it's not to me. The American Flag and the national anthem means so much to me. In November, I celebrate 31 years associated with the military. Ten of my  22 years with the Air Force I spent overseas (not including my deployments) and in December, I will be retired for 9 years. Thank God I still work with the military!

You may not know this, but when we're overseas and we go to the movies it starts with the National Anthem.  Even after all of these years, it still gives me chills and brings tears to my eyes when I hear it and I think of all those who died in support of America and her flag.  I have several family members and even more friends who have or are serving.

Please remember Veterans day on November 11th!

God Bless America and all of those who have served and are still serving today to preserve our rights and freedoms.

Last month I blogged about my hand-painted spoon. It's so pretty. I'm looking forward to painting more spoons.    I got so excited about my spoon, I thought I'd make a few more. Albeit this time I thought I'd make a some holiday ones. I made a snowman and a mummy fused glass spoon.     …Read more.

More Fused Glass Stars

More Fused Glass Stars

In July, I made a lot of Fused glass stars and after taking Jodi's class the first week in August I made even more. I'm not sure which are my favorites. I like the simple 5 point stars because they can be made in any color and typically take 1 firing.  The 6 pointed stars are nice too. I tried …Read more.

Fused Glass trees

Fused Glass trees

In July I made a standing tree so I thought I'd make a few more. I'm not sure if I like the face more or the traditional ornament tree. I'd love to hear what ya'll think.    This picture shows my first standing tree (with a face),  a standing tree with ornaments, and the green with …Read more.

Did you know ...

This section is used to answer any questions you may have or to pass on tidbits of information that add value and enhance knowledge regarding fused glass, metals, or jewelry in general. Let me know if you have anything you'd like me to include.

Normally my DYK is about glass but I took a business trip to London in the UK.  So I thought I'd share some of the sights of England.  Hopefully this will also explain how busy I truly was this month!

I took a cruise on the Thames, it was a great cruise - I love the tower bridge

This is the Tower of London. I didn't visit it this time but I remember taking my little girl there when she was a year and a half.

I took the cruise to Greenwich where I went to see the Naval observatory. I really enjoyed it,, when I was working in the command post we always called the Naval observatory to get a time hack. In the military we use UTC time which is based on the time in Greenwich. So very cool. I also got to stand on the line which separates the Eastern and Western Hemispheres.

My daughter and I are big Sherlock Holmes fans so I went to the museum. It was just ok, but Madi enjoyed the book and the journal.

I also went to the Kings Crossing platform to visit 9 3/4 platform. I got Madi a journal and pens & pencils.

---

I went to visit Buckingham Palace. The gardens are amazing.

The Royal Horse guards. The parade grounds are really large.

---

Trafalgar Square,  our hotel was only a block away!

Trafalgar square is a crazy busy square!

---

This is the London eye. I didn't go on it this time but again I took Madi on it when she was a baby.

We couldn't go into Westminster Abbey but it sure is beautiful on the outside.

The Palace of Westminster or what most people think of as Big Ben (the Bell of the clock) was under-construction but it's still beautiful!

---

I also did something I've never done before. I had afternoon tea with co-workers. It was a lot of fun.

This was for 2 people and yes I ate my entire portion! Lots of sweets but it also contains sandwiches and scones.

Such a pretty table, I had strawberry cream tea. Very good!

---

I'm sure you are wondering about selfies. I am horrible at selfies but I thought I'd show two. Me in front of Trafalgar square.

And of course on the cruise. In case there is any doubt I loved the cruise!

---

I looked for glass places but didn't find any close by. But I found inspiration in everything, including just walking down the street!  I found myself looking at the trees and leaves as much as the sight!

Something I find fascinating is the water bottles in the hotel are all glass and the perfect size for my mushrooms.

I love my little mushrooms, especially the ones using recycled glass!

---

I hope you don't mind a few of my pictures from my trip. I'm so glad I had a little free time to revisit London.  I love traveling!

BTW on a side note, my husband has been flying for Sky West  for going on 10 years in Nov and this was the first time we were flying on the same plane with him in the cockpit.  He's an amazing pilot, father, husband and Man. I am so very lucky to have him as my Husband. in my life we've been friends for over 30 years!
