Happy New Year 2016 - My fused glass goals

Happy New Year 2016 - My fused glass goals

Instead of calling them resolutions, I'm calling them goals. I look forward to reaching my 2016 goals for my fused glass.   2015 was a wonderful year for me professionally. I started a new job that I enjoy and I work with great people. I also was able to create several commercial fused glass orders, I participated in over 7 …Read more.

Commercial Fused Glass

Commercial Fused Glass

Over the last few months I've told ya'll that I've created fused glass for commercial customers. For this blog I'd like to expand on it a little. Especially since I am working on two separate commercial fused glass orders right now and all of my kilns are filled so I can't play (create) for a little while! Obviously I have …Read more.

Fused Glass - Circles can be fun!

Fused Glass - Circles can be fun!

This is kind of a continuation of my last blog regarding commercial fused glass orders. One of the many challenges for me with fused glass is cutting circles. So imagine my dismay when for one of my commercial orders I had to make 10 huge fused glass bowls. Since the majority of my fused glass dishes are at least two …Read more.

Fused Glass Bowl and Texture Molds

Fused Glass Bowl and Texture Molds

As I've mentioned many times. I love molds and I can't seem to get enough of them. This fused glass bowl used two different types of molds. A texture mold and the slumping mold (square bowl). The nice thing about a texture mold is once its taken on by the glass (by …Read more.

Incorporating other art-forms into fused glass

One of the myriad of reasons I love fused glass is how other art-forms can be incorporated into fused glass. I've mentioned art clay, stamping, flowers, and so many other arts. In several of my Facebook groups I follow I came across a post about Rangoli, according to Wikipedia "the purpose of Rangoli is decoration, and it is thought to …Read more.

Samples of my Fused Glass Commercial soap dishes

Samples of my Fused Glass Commercial soap dishes

This month I've been blogging a lot about my commercial / production fused glass orders. I mentioned that I have representatives helping me get commercial fused glass orders. Sometimes they email or call me and ask for something specific. Sometimes they have customers that want something but they want to see …Read more.

Picking up the Fused Glass pieces

Picking up the Fused Glass pieces

During a recent show one of my great customers who had bought one of my beautiful fused glass aspens came back with a bag. Inside the bag was the broken aspen. She told me that the aspen was on a shelf and got knocked to the floor. Anytime someone buys a larger piece of fused glass artwork I remind them …Read more.

What's in the Kiln?

What's in the Kiln?

Did you know ...

This section is used to answer any questions you may have or to pass on tidbits of information that add value and enhance knowledge regarding fused glass, metals, or jewelry in general. Let me know if you have anything you'd like me to include.

This Did You Know (DYK) is totally different than my past DYK articles. Normally the DYK section of my fused glass newsletters are used to answer any questions you may have or to pass on tidbits of information that add value and enhance knowledge regarding fused glass, metals, or jewelry in general.

Since it’s a new year I thought I’d open it up for recommendations. In fact, I’m going to reward those with  unique DYK recommendations with a  fused glass pendant ($20 or less).   If you have a question about glass that you want me to do a DYK article just email me at elegantfusedglass@gmail.com There’s no limit to how many topics you can recommend, however it has to be a topic I haven’t written a DYK about already and it has to be in keeping with fused glass or jewelry.   If I use your DYK I will send you a handmade fused glass pendant ($20 or less).

(It should go without saying but I'll say it anyway,  I have the right to choose which DYK recommendations are acceptable to receive a free fused glass pendant!)

So how do you know what topics I've already covered in my DYK articles?  Just go to my site (www.elegantfusedglassbykaren.com) on the right hand side there are all my newsletters, just click on the dates for each newsletter.

The DYK is at the bottom of the newsletter under the heading Did You Know.  I also did a recap in December's Fused Glass Newsletter regarding some of my best DYK. This will give you an idea of what can be covered in a DYK article.  They are typically more in-depth than a blog.

Why am I doing this contest? Because I want to make sure I’m answering the questions that my customers might have. I do have some DYK articles planned, but I will incorporate the best submitted recommendations too.  An important aspect to understand about my DYK articles is I put a lot of research into them. For example the DYK I wrote the DYK about birthstones it  not only took a lot of time to research the gemstones uses for each birthstone I then had to research and test how to create each birthstone in glass. Lots of work, but I like learning so I enjoyed the research. I can't wait to see what y'all come up with.

So let me know some of the topics you'd like to learn more about in one of my DYK sections and you may earn a $20 fused glass pendant for FREE!  Just email me at (elegantfusedglass@gmail.com).

Keeping my Kilns warm,

Karen
